Morgan Freeman: Tea Party is racist

Can we come up with a witty name for all of the conservative hacks in the media?

Apparently millions upon millions of unique viewers/listeners isn't enough to qualify as "mainstream."
By "we", if you mean you, then no.

There comes a point where a troll is just a troll. They can enjoy jiving around and sometimes it's even amusing to jive back but Chump isn't even trying anymore. Fishing for MSM ID's? Really?

Did you miss the 50+ posts of people in this thread claiming there is no such thing as an Tea Party ID Card, therefor there must be no actual Tea Party members? I'm just going to assume you missed that.

And no, I'm not trolling.

They're pretty much called "conservative media"... pretty honest title as opposed to considering yourself "mainstream" while espousing opinions held by something less than 25% of the populace.

Like it or not, Rush is still on the AM dial on the radio. That's a far difference from being on network cable.

I would consider the MSM, NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Time Magazine, Newsweek, etc..... the list goes on

who said that?

How is it different exactly? Rush has damn near the same numbers as the news.

The fact that Rush can obtain that many listeners despite being on the AM dial and with NO TV show frightens Liberals. That's why they are always trying to smear him. And I'm not some Rush homer, but I call it like I see it.

So does "mainstream" in "MSM" carry any weight?

MSNBC? Fox News and Rush kill MSNBC ratings.

Are you blaming this on the "MSM?"

Who is the "MSM?"

Do they carry "MSM" nametags?

Do they meet at a secret country club and hold their "MSM" meetings.

There is no such thing as the "MSM."

The MSM operates on a storyline created by a relatively small number of news editors at AP, NYT, network news, CNN, etc that work inside the beltway or in NY. They determine what is "newsworthy". By their own admission during the Clinton years, about 90% vote Democrat... part of the other 10% vote further to the left. The power to decide the agenda is significant... even those you consider conservative "hacks" usually end up talking about the issues the MSM wants to talk about.

The MSM is a broad description of the "old media" and its descendants. Its roots like that of the modern day Dem party go back to the rise of Progressive humanism in the early 20th century. The media, paralleling Progressive politicians, stopped seeing themselves as objective reporters of fact and started seeing themselves as agents of change.

The Progressive movement was extremely powerful. It took over most of academia by the early 1900's. Its ideals effected (or infected) what is commonly referred to as mainline protestantism resulting in acceptance of the "social gospel" and the ultimate decline of those denominations. The media became Progressive shortly after or at the same time as academia.

By 1920, both parties were controlled by Progressives. The argument ceased to be whether the Constitution constrained gov't but rather how extra-constitutional gov't power should be used. Progressives under varying labels held absolute sway in both parties until Goldwater. The media ran active interference for ideological allies in politics.

They continued to hold absolute sway in the media until the advent of cable news, the resurrection of talk radio, and then the internet.

chump is definitely beginning to resemble the cashvallin/kicker33 troll, with a touch of utgibbs thrown in for good measure

Surely you will give O'Reilly and Fox News a card then. Most popular cable news in the history of the world. His ratings destroy MSNBC.

Here's a test you can use: Does this organization have an editorial staff or position that would have existed in one of the nightly news staffs or NYT's staff of 30 years ago.

The MSM has long been the Progressive purists comparable to libertarians on the other side of the spectrum.

Actually I would have to consider Fox "mainstream" in the sense of establishment and reach.

I'll add it's pretty telling how much the rest of the MSM detest and deride them.

.

So basically what your saying is MSM is a term conservatives are holding onto, even though it means nothing.

Does it help them sleep better? You guys sure love that "us against the world" mentality.

I'm going to watch the NBC nightly news for the next month.

How many times are they going to mention Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, do you think?

Gee I don't know. I don't proofread their news reports before they go on the air.

No. I explained pretty clearly what I mean. The fact that you have as many posts as you do trying to evade the points made by others tells me that you are either lying or blinded by bias.
