Most humiliating loss of Butch era

Looked really tired in the 3rd. Also injuries seemed to be insurmountable. I was super worried about this happening and it did. At least we get a week off to get healthy.

They played apart in the performance but Im not gonna pretend the result is much different. Tonite was an L regardless it just may have been 20 instead of 40.

Btw guys. How much should we read into this loss? I'm not sure much especially if by the end of the year we are almost at full strength again.
"Tennessee was missing eight starters from its season-opening lineup against Alabama through injury and attrition.

Defensively, the Vols entered the game without linebackers Jalen Reeves-Maybin (shoulder), Darrin Kirkland Jr. (high ankle sprain), Cortez McDowell and Quart’e Sapp (ACL) and defensive backs Cam Sutton (fractured ankle) and Malik Foreman. During the game, tackle Kahlil McKenzie exited with an injury.

On the offensive line, Dylan Wiesman missed the game and Jashon Robertson was limited to only special teams. During the game, Brett Kendrick and Chance Hall exited with an injury."

This is one reason it got out of hand

Fastest overall Bama team I've seen. Their trainers prob run sub 4.5. That being said I say that if we are totally healthy and both teams play their best game. We still lose by double digits. Speed kills and coaching does matter.

It's called 5 straight #1 recruiting classes. But you know, stars don't matter.

49-10.

Year 4

That says it all. Beyond embarrassing to witness this deplorable performance by the coaching staff & players in Butch' 4th yr. Scary that TN got beat so badly at home during the biggest recruiting weekend of the year.

Just BAD

Is this the worst loss in the history of Tennessee football? Is a 50 to 10 loss to a Alabama team in our house in a game we expected to make interesting in order to stay in the SEC east race the worst loss in Tennessee ball history?

Florida is going after their extra biweek. I cannot watch saban play in another playoff. I can't. I don't have it in me.

Worst loss I've ever witnessed. We were destroyed in all aspects of the game. Not beaten, destroyed. Noone is beating Bama this year.

Go clutch your pearls somewhere else. 5-2 is still a great start, and with any luck, the team is still in contention for the East. Getting some depth back in the next few weeks will make the rematch with A&M or Bama in the championship game interesting and potentially a great story.

Well, the return game was pretty strong today. Also had some decent defense early on. Depth played an issue. Players out of position a few times definitely helped them out. I'm curious what a rematch in the SECCG might look like.

BECAUSE of the sacks, which is because the Oline couldn't hold up. Greatest play caller in the world couldn't mask our line play.

Who does the play of the oline fall on? These are CBJ players, his oline coach.

The excuses are over. I supported CBJ when people on this board wanted him gone after year 1. The talent he was left was a cusa roster and he has done a remarkable job building the talent level, but with that being said this staff has failed to develop these players.

CBJ will have to overhaul his offensive staff, The swim coach, the cusa wide receiver coach, and the western Michigan oline coach will have to be replaced and a complete overhaul of this offensive system will need to be made or CBJ days may be numbered.

About to have the first ten win regular season since, what, 1998?

We played our worst game of the year. We got it out of the way. Easy schedule the rest of the way. Gonna get healthy, retool, and be in Atlanta. Calm down, get a drink, and relax

We could also lose 3 more games.

This coaching staff is an embarrassment.

4 recruiting classes, no excuses.

Ole Miss says hello.

Their is not a lot of difference between 1 and 8 in recruiting rankings.

It's called coaching and developing players.

So you really think there is very little difference between a team with 6 straight #1 classes and one with 6 straight #8 classes?

Ypur agenda has been exposed.

It is definitely about coaching, however Ole Miss never recruited like Bama.

The best players in the nation want to play for Saban, not Butch.

One screw up takes away all the that a boys.

All the slaps on the back for beating Florida, the hail Mary against Georgia, and leaving it all on the field against A&M doesn't mean much after today.

There is a huge question mark now.

This team and coaching staff are back to square one.

Winning out and still waiting to see what happens to Florida is not where this team should be but that's where they are.

Winning every game in November will be tough, we're in for more nail biting.

Let's root these Vols on as they get up off the mat and face what the SEC has left to throw at them.

We're still here and we're still Volunteers!

Not really. Today was a very Dooleyesque type loss

Dooley never got beat down by Bama this bad. Largest margin of victory in this series in 100 years. And that was Saban showing extreme mercy in the 4th quarter. Pulled his starting QB. They could have easily scored at TD at then end but didn't. Even passed up a field goal at the end just to end the game.

Are people really comparing Butch to Dooley? People are drunk posting now. Dooley ruined our program. Butch--though not perfect--has pretty much resurrected it and given us national relevance again. Is he the guy to lead us to the promised land? Probably not. But if it isn't Jones, then the one who is that guy will owe Butch Jones for what he has done here--taking a dumpster fire and bringing it back to life.

Ok, feel free to jump off that bridge. Just realize that this season does actually include a win over Florida. Team is 5-2, and in the drivers seat for the East. Yes, I'm pathetic dearie.

He's not Dooley. Hes somewhere between Dooley and Fulmer. I dont think he wins championships here either. Didn't think that when he was hired.

What the next guy owes Jones will be determined by some other factors. I imagine UT is not gonna cut him loose until things slide pretty hard. Depending on when and how, the roster may not be near as good as it currently is. So what he has built is only relevant if it isnt crumbling when he leaves. It should still be better than what he walked in to but the degree had some variables.

It's bull saying nothing could be done. Our offensive gameplan was horrible. Power or zone 85% of the time on first down. No passes over 10 yards for three quarters. Either Dobbs is the worst zone read qb ever or they are calling it from the booth( I am almost sure it's from the booth.)One of the smartest kids ever at qb and he can't be trusted to read an end. Three receiver patterns dont allow you to high low safeties like four reciever sets do. We also gashed them last year on the inverted veer which I saw us run twice today(with sucesss). Game plan sucked! If you are outmanned in the box you use your qb as a runner to gain a man advantage in the run game. You have to scheme to help the get better numbers in the run game.
