I can understand that because there has never been a black president. I think it means something for black parents to point to Obama and tell their children if he did it so can you.

I view it much like I view higher education. In my family, there was no real sense of accomplishment in graduating high school. It was expected that you graduate and then attend college. It is harder for people travelling the road unpaved.

He was a novelty and the reason many white people voted for him as well.

That doesn't make it any more of an educated decision but "let's be a part of history" moment.

He wasn't the great president the left wants you to believe he was and he wasn't the abject failure the right sees. He was middle of the pack, but he gave black kids a goal that many had never dreamed possible.

Still a Questionable source but it's much better than your random message board poster. However, the article contains many false assumptions. The author assumes that every gun murder has been solved. Second, the author bases his numbers on how blacks and whites voted, but it doesn't consider participation rate by race. He also doesn't account for felon peeps. They cannot vote and, therefore, cannot be Democrat or Republican. He doesn't consider a host of other factors that would also influence the l likelihood that a person is Democrat or Republican. In other words,this study is hot garbage.
