Loved District 9

A movie for me was The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension. Looks ridiculous but has some classic subtle humor and John Lithgow is outstanding in it. Also has Peter Weller, Ellen Barkin, Jeff Goldblum and many others you'd recognize

You left out The Kurgan from Highlander. :)

I actually caught roughly the 2nd half of that movie and the 2 things that just slayed me, and I can't recall which moreso, was the soundtrack and the clothes...dear God.

didn't think they looked stupid as much as I thought they wouldn't be that good, but here is 2 more and funny thing is they have the same 2 actors starring in both...

A History of Violence....damn good movie and Maria Bello is FINE....

Appaloosa....very underrated western....

also another Viggo movie I liked and didn't think I would was

HIDALGO....

Viggo has quietly become a very good action/western star...his movie The Road was really good also...and Eastern Promises was enjoyable...

I know....I watched a couple of his movies in a row and it prompted me to post...

Almost Famous. Thought it was just some flick made for teens.
It may have been, but I love that movie.

I wouldn't say they are favorites of mine but Starship Troopers and Stargate. Tough to pass them by on TV.

A couple of recent ones:

Chronicle- Didn't expect much, but it turned out to be one of the more enjoyable "new" movies I've watched over the past year.

Cabin in the Woods- Previews looked straight up retarded, and I was basically dragged to this one. It's nowhere near a favorite, but it was quite a bit better than I was expecting.
