Movies you've seen recently II

No time to die. 8.5/10. One of if not the best bonds ever. Great movie and a fitting end for Craig as 007. Really good

The Lost Daughter, 5 Written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. My dear wife chose this movie, and she said it was boring. OTOH, the acting was excellent, and some might find it interesting. Dakota Johnson, the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith is one of the actors.

VHYes on Hulu. Great nostalgia film, very stream of consciousness also. 8/10

Super Bob Einstein 9/10 Fun short doc about Bob Einstein who was Super Dave Osborne and Marty Funkhauser

I started to watch this last night. Tried it going in blind because I always take forever to choose a movie, and was tired of looking. It appeared on the surface to be maybe some type of thriller when I clicked on it. I made it about ten minutes in before realizing it was not going to be my cup of tea and turned it off.

I love that guy, and the doc was really good, but I was kinda surprised by how not funny the old, old stuff was. I'd heard a lot about the Smothers Brothers show lately because with the recent focus on cancel culture, Marc Maron discussed on his pod how they tried to cancel SB back in the day for being too controversial. Einstein's writing partner was Steve Martin for hell's sake, it was the edgiest show on television, and those clips were so boring, LOL.

It was risky at the time but sure now its all tame. I read Steve Martin's autobiography, a lot in there about him and Bob. Good stuff. Crazy to me how him and Albert Brooks and Rob Reiner all just grew up hanging out together. Those show biz Jewish families ran that place for decades!

I 100% believe that if my Dad were a successful comic and my best friend were Rob Reiner, I'd be a successful TV writer.

My wife and i watch a movie almost every night. Neither of us care for the comic book character movies(what are they called?), and they seem to dominate the offerings now. Theaters too. So both search for movies we think we will like, and we keep a list of about 5-10 movies. it's a crap shoot.
I chose last night and "The Laundromat" caught my eye. Meryl streep, Antonio Banderis, Gary Oldman star. Can't be too bad. I was wrong. I thought it was worse than "The Lost Daughter". DW still thinks the Lost Daughter was worse.
It seems like many of these new movies are poorly written and are boring conversation meant to build up to a surprise climax(The Lost Daughter). The writer fails to often.
But "to each their own". We don't all have the same taste.

I really liked The Last Duel. I don't normally like movies that go back and forth in time, but I can appreciate it in this one.

And Old Henry was fantastic, but I'd spoil it if I said why.

I loved watching super Dave and ran across the doc over the weekend. Great watch. I enjoy that type of dry humor. Really got a kick out of how he reused gags because his career was so long.

Watched "Don't Look Up" the other night. Pretty good. 5 or 6/10. It could have been shortened quite a bit and still made it's point. There was just a lot of dead periods in it.

I watched it last night and I wanted to like it because of Paul Rudd. If not for him I probably wouldn't have finished it. I didn't care for it.

Roman Holiday, 1953 8/10

I've watched it at least 4 times. Should be required viewing before visiting Rome. Otherwise you might lose a hand.

well yeah, you would know that is a major driver if you had some.
That's where you're wrong Ebert, that's practically the only reason I loved Old Henry. I still cry every time I here Berlin and have to watch Top Gun.

Seriously though, I wasn't much of a fan of the original Ghostbusters anyway.
