My wife and I enjoy watching infamously bad movies when we're bored and don't want to dedicate a lot of attention to what we're watching.

Sunday night we watched "Saving Christmas", Kirk Cameron's latest piece. Yes, we watched a Christmas movie the night after the 4th of July. My logic: if it's really terrible, better to watch it now than let it ruin Christmas for us; turns out, this was a really good call.

I like bad movies, but this one is aggressively, offensively terrible. I had to rewind it at points to make sure that I had actually seen or heard what I thought I had. I never write reviews on Rotten Tomatoes or Netflix, but I'm seriously considering if for this one.

It's pretty darn good. Cannot think of a better American horror movie from the last five years.

I think you could make a case for a decent number of movies. I enjoyed The Conjuring and Sinister better honestly. I might could argue Babadook was better as well.

It Follows was very good up until the 3rd act. it kinda fell apart after that. such a shame too cause they had been doing a great job at recreating the classic 80's horror genre. Loved the tension, camerawork, enticing/chilling atmosphere, and retro soundtrack. the last 25 mins just really took me out of it though.

for its style and tone alone though, it's definitely up there for best horror in the past decade.

I loved The Babadook, but it's Australian, so it didn't fit my qualifier.

The Conjuring and Sinister are both decent horror flicks. Neither are terribly inventive in my eyes, and neither had the social commentary that It Follows contains.

And you aren't the first person to criticize It Follow's ending, but I think it had to end that way or its running metaphor would have been wasted.

Ah, I completely missed the American part lol my fault there.

also, regarding The Conjuring and Sinister, there's a reason why I said I enjoyed them better, as opposed to saying that as they were overall better films than It Follows. :)

The Babadook is fantastic, though. Anyone who considers himself even a slight fan of the genre needs to see it.

There is a really powerful metaphor running through it as well. As a parent, I found that it hit really close to home.

The Babadook definitely was good. You're right about the metaphor. I found the entire film to just be pure symbolism.

I enjoyed that one.

Lol I seriously want you to host a public access show where you review movies.

"Tonight on Bowlin's movie goin' adventures, we rate the best movies of all time. Candidates include Transformers, Transporter, Fast 5, and anything with Larry the Cable Guy".

Although considering my love of Blood Sport, Kickboxer and Lion Heart, I probably don't have any room to judge.
