Sicario. 8.5/10. Good actioner and meditation on the drug war. Del Toro is money is almost every role he takes.

The Green Inferno. 4/10 - Millennial hipsters get slaughtered in gruesome ways by indigenous peoples. While I wholly support this concept, Eli Roth's violence has no love. Watch Cannibal Holocaust instead.

Goodnight Mommy. 8/10 - Well done psychological thriller about whether you ever truly know anyone including yourself. And the measures you will take to find out.

I was hoodwinked into sitting through Fireproof during a "bible study" some time back. Can someone get asked to leave a movie being screened in a church? Yes. Yes, he can.

Well, if you loved Kirk throwing his computer away because he's powerless to resist porn, you'll love watching him sit in the front seat of an SUV and brow beat an idiot about Christmas.

Facing the Giants was the worst movie I think I've ever seen. The lead actor in that movie was so bad, it became funny. I think it's the same people that made fireproof. I think Facing the Giants has a 10% rating on rotten tomatoes.

Kung Fury - 10/10 I don't think I've seen anything as stupidly awesome as this short, 30 minute homage to all things '80's. Even the song that plays during the end credits (sang by David Hasslehoff) is awesome.

OMG! I thought that was a parody...he was serious!

I actually liked them both, but they were movies that I could sit and watch with my kids without worrying about language. Jmo though.

Is this on Netflix?

If you can separate the message of the movies from the acting, then it's served a good purpose. The bad acting just overshadowed anything else IMO, especially Facing the Giants.

Oh I agree on that.

I should have posted a video. Nobody reacted to my endorsement of this short. It's awesome. I watched it 3x in 2 days 'cause I showed it to my wife and then my brother in law.

I'm all for the message that's being conveyed. And you are spot on that they are safe for the family. I just wish that Christian cinema could actually produce a decently made movie, rather than a bunch of lousy movies with good messages.

That said, Saving Christmas has an absolutely awful message, and it actually an attack by Christians on other Christians. It is really bizarre and awful.

agreed on everything.

our theater had War Room, and i found it annoying that it was constantly full. I stepped in and watched a decent bit of it, and it's like a poor man's Tyler Perry movie. good message? sure, but it still wasn't remotely as good as most people seemed to boast when they came out of it. so dumb. just the same cheap, poorly made crap that the Christian masses will gobble up.

that said, The 33 has caught a little bit of my interest, and Woodlawn is actually getting some good reviews (in the 80's on RT, though sample size is small), which is more than most of these films can say.

Saving Christmas is on a whole other level of awful. I'm not sure it should even qualify as a "movie."

Using only movies that actually seemed like they intended to be taken as real entertainment I've never seen the likes of Dracula 3000. I'm not exaggerating when I say the ending is so WTF awful it appears they realized the whole thing was so bad they basically just quit. It's got recognizable names in the cast too. Here's a few IMDB user review quotes about the movie, which are actually a whole hell of a lot more entertaining than the movie.

(I'm a male) and I would rather give myself a papercut on the opening of my urethra before viewing this again (seriously).

I was a devout Catholic before this "film". But since viewing it, I know there is not a God, because if there was, he wouldn't have let this film be produced. I am now an atheist.

I'll be honest I can't talk about the ending. Last time I tried to explain it I fell into a coma.

This is, by far, the single biggest waste of hours you could otherwise spend contemplating the importance of dish towels and their effect on your life. I would far rather be trapped in a bathroom for weeks with nothing to consume but my own urine and excrement than watch even a single clip of this movie again.

It goes on and on...and having seen the movie myself there's really not a lot of exaggeration IMO.

I haven't seen saving Christmas, but I agree I wish they made better movies. Acting and such.

I've heard Woodlawn was pretty good.

Way off topic but I was playing PS4 last night and a gamer tag popped up with your VN name. Any chance that was you?
