Mad Max Fury Road

5/10

Was excited to see it because it got great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Half way through I realized I wasn't interested in the movie at all. I hadn't had any sort of connection to the characters or story. Hadn't been blown away by the effects. Maybe the fans of the original Mad Max movies love this one because of the tone and overall aesthetics of the environment being familiar to them, but this was the first one I had seen, and I just wasn't interested.

Dead to me. It's the perfect action movie. The lack of explicit story is one of the major draws, imo. I hate all the time wasted on explaining weaponized T rexes and stupid **** like that in modern action. Also, no CGI

Can't believe that was your first MM

Yeah. And your thoughts are pretty much in line with the critic reviews and audience. Maybe it is just like cilantro. To 10% of the population, cilantro tastes like soap. To me, this movie was boring and pointless. And I seem to be in the great minority with that opinion. I don't consider myself any sort of movie snob either, so it is baffling to me how out of sync my opinion is on this one. Oh well, on to rise of the planet of the apes.

It's weird because a few people i know who i was certain would love it didn't, and people like my sister, who has never seen MM, was totally riveted.

I love the concepts. It's so carnal. All about survival. Like the guy who loses his eyes, immediately accepts his new state, and decides it's now his duty to deal out blind justice. So ****ing cool.

Most? Really? Then why the hell would they go through the trouble of filming in Nairobi?

Can't answer that. But, I do know they did impressive CG work for lots of stuff in that movie. It was filmed on a desert and then they added a ton.

Just one example. There's some good sites that discuss their CG work. There weren't any mountains where they filmed. All of that is CG.

I enjoyed it for what it was. I wasn't expecting some epic dialogue. It was 95% action. That's all I wanted, that's all I got.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes: 8/10

Can't believe how many emotions a CGI chimp can elicit from an unsuspecting viewer. Really enjoyed this one and am looking forward to watching Dawn of planet of apes.

Dawn is pretty fun, but the writing leaves something to be desired. I love Rise though.

Robin Hood: Ghosts of Sherwood -- 0/1000000000^256

Yeah, it's that bad. You should watch it though to see the actor who once played Jason Voorhees deliver some of the most epic lines in cinematic history.

Can it compete with Troll 2?

Jurassic World - 4.5/5

Watched this for the first time since seeing it in theater on Blu-ray last night and I think its better than I originally thought.
