'19 MS DE Charles Moore

I wonder about all this "slow play" talk...maybe the kid just didnt want to commit to us at the time. Everytime its a lower ranked recruit we need that commits to a rival its because we slow played it...

Go back and look and you will see he camped and we didn’t offer till later. We were not sold on him as much as others higher on our board. Actually Butch would take 18 by June when we didn’t have an early sign day and then cut the fat. This staff doesn’t do that which is good but missed early on guys who wanted to be shown they were wanted and we put them off. Then we come back after someone does take their commitment and harder to get them to decommit from someone who was willing to commit to them earlier. Logue mentioned it as well as others. We get other guys cause we are one of the earliest on them.

This staff is used to being able to get guys late just like Bama did with Eddie smith but they are recruiting to a 4-8 then 5-7 back to back seasons.

It has bit them on a few who they have backed off of then try to get back on. If you have followed recruiting then you know some guys don’t have committable offers hence slow played. Wait while you see us chasing the prettier girl. But like girls some blossom over time and pass others in beauty or the guy who is above you on the girls boards takes the girl you put off while trying for someone else. If you don’t think some guys are slowplayed in recruiting then that is naive.

Not always but is noted by VQ on Moore and anyone who followed Anderson’s recruiting was he was put off by us and how we handled his commitment. I NEVER SAID EVERY RECRUIT who went with lower programs. By the way, we are the program that finished last in the east so one could argue we are being picky when we are the ugly guy trying to get the best looking girl.

Anderson tried to committ to us earlier. Staff wouldn’t accept it at the time.

Certainly looks like a mistake now.

Pretty sure he tried to commit and they didn’t take it, according to VQ. I believe it was mentioned as something similar with Moore this summer, not sure though. Staff thought they were gonna get Eboigbe, IMO.
I think it was probably more about him coming off the injury and at his size not knowing of he would end up a SDE or DT.

My friend lives in Murfreesboro and he agrees that Joseph Anderson is not a big loss. He has seen him play for several years. His son is in his grade.

It depends on what kind of player he turns into...... it’s obvious that our staff has reservations about what kind of player he would become in our system.
HAD reservations early. Tried to get back in on him late. Ship had sailed.

He was a take at the end but not exactly someone I feel the staff is going to cry over and may even end up with a better replacement.
For sure, I’d rather have Charles Moore.

Still doesn’t change what happened with Anderson.

It does if they are not 100% sure on Anderson..... I don’t think the staff considers him a huge loss even if they did end up willing to take him.

Pruitt said they are going to be reviewing their recruiting process and seeing how they could have done better. I take it they know mistakes have been made but I suppose most NCAA staffs feel they made mistakes during the season. Do we learn from those mistakes will be the key.

Checked in at #5 for the top 10 in Orlando this week
Entering the week, Moore was not one of the defensive linemen being talked about in the elite group. He told Rivals that he came into this event with a “big chip” on his shoulder, and on the practice field, he has been one of the best. He has been tough to slow down with his quickness off the ball. He is a defensive lineman who can work inside and outside with his frame and ability.

I still am wondering what is up with the Mississippi schools not being able to get signatures on a lot of their top committed prospects for ESD? I mean if they were truly committed why wouldn't they go ahead and sign?

I know this goes without being said.. But I'm gonna say it anyway.. This guy is a big need for the Vols..
