I thought D4H was the biggest blowhard I had ever seen on this site. Then BTH93 showed up and proved me wrong.

Heupel isn’t as set in his ways as people think. It’s looked a little different every year he’s been a HC or play caller. He builds his offense around his personnel’s talent. Which is a little different than what Leach did. Just look at how our offense changed throughout his first season. The offense we ran at the end of 2021 was different than what we were running when Joe was starting

No it wasn’t. Our offense is still 90% the same as what it was when CJH got here. Everyone (Leach, Mumme, and all air raid coaches included) makes some level of change each year to fit their personnel and what defenses are doing against them.

He’s has a base offense that will not change. He will add/remove some wrinkles from year to year and even week to week (like everyone).

But what you’re asking him to do is basically run an entirely different offense. It’s like going to Alex Gibbs and saying “you should run power”!

I can’t wait until all of the smoothbrains on this site see how much different our offense will look this season than last years and we’re working the middle of the field more. You all are right. Heupel is never going to change the offense to fit his personnel and quick bubble and scissor routes are all this offense will ever be

I'll bet we are a run first offense that uses short screen passes to the perimeter to set up the down field passing game. Sound familiar?

There’s layers to this offense nobody has seen yet bc they weren’t comfortable with the personnel to execute it. Golesh mentioned it last yr.

For example, real routes with a TE that can catch n run. We just haven’t had the personnel for that but we do now with Castles and Davis. Also RB’s being used in the pass game. Nobody we have had until Sampson was good at it. And he was a true freshman just finding himself so it will pick up. I’m telling you once they have a TE that is a real threat up the field idk how you stop this offense.

Good Example
I was at the Mizzou game where 'hid' Hyatt on a wide open TD. It was at that point I realized that Heupel is planning/playing a different game than everyone else. I'm not going to say Heupel follows any formula or scheme. He's a creative dude.

No I’m not. Every offense in football (even at the HS level) should have 2-3 mesh plays they’re capable of mastering. Also we don’t even run an air raid offense. So I’m not sure why you’re lumping Heupel in with those guys

That play was set up by Sampson sweep on play prior. The sweep was used with hurry up to hide Hyatt. Heupel is playing chess

You just don’t know what you’re talking about. Mesh is such an intricate play that air raid coaches have a daily portion of practice dedicated to nothing but mesh.

You’re right, we don’t run an air raid, but you’re wanting us to incorporate air raid plays (mesh, shallow, and sting). Thus me mentioning air raid coaches.

The same way no one would go to USC and try to convince them to run our stuff (go or x choice for example), it’s insane to come here and tell us we should install their offense. Practice hours and few and precious. Stick to what you do best.

At the games my wife is always screaming that was stupid why did they run that play, every time I’m like he is setting something up for either the next play, next series or next game. I’m convinced CJH loves screwing with everyone with his chess matches.

Kamarion Franklin could decide at any time. A July decision is a real possibility and Ole Miss is doing all it can to stay in the race for the in-state defensive lineman. You can’t rule the Rebels out, but all a source close to this point to this being a Miami vs. Tennessee battle. The four-star defensive lineman has taken visits to both programs this month (two to Miami) and both appeal to him. Some have felt Tennessee has been the favorite for some time, but Miami, after getting him back on campus recently, has made this very tight at the top. An official visit to Auburn is set for late September, but Franklin may be committed well before then.
