I hope we whip their ass in their stadium this year. Just from all the sound bites from the players and coaches you can tell they have that game circled on the calendar. Heupel and Tennessee are living rent free in their minds right now.
Fines and scholarship limits have nothing to do with who we are going after and how much we are willing to pay.Fact of the matter is the fines and scholly limits are playing a role right now. Staff has to be selective about who they throw money at. From what I’m hearing, as all these upperclassmen move on in the next couple of years that will change and we’ll be "outbid" less and less frequently. Numbers are just tight right now in more ways than one.
Despite some of these factors the staff has assembled a great class thus far and have a chance for a fringe top 5 class. I can’t wait to see what targets emerge from senior seasons and how many we get.
That said, we ain’t getting Franklin unless something drastically changes.
This isnt a top five class, we've missed out on waay too many top targets.Fact of the matter is the fines and scholly limits are playing a role right now. Scholly limits may be a thing but how much of a thing is it? Probably not a thing, as this is the first any of us hve heard of it.
We've known for a while now that Franklin isnt a guy we are going to land.
Also, the staff doesnt throw money. Spyre does that.
This is a relatively weak year instate for big men. Our Dline recruitment and perhaps WR recruitment are the only real concerns. Even then, Im not concerned about WR even in the least.
Wingo would make this an elite class.
What part of while everybody else gets to have 85 on scholly we CAN’T until we burn off 10 more penalty slots. Probably at 2 per year or so.
Right now our class is ranked 7th. Tragedy is therefore on the horizon. OH THE HUMANITY. Our ORANGE airship is crashing in flames. Not a chance we can recover with some HS guys that the staff has evaluated or maybe plays some late cards on a player or two that are ASSUMED lost before the pen hits paper. Old assessment timelines are no longer applicable in this brave new NIL and Portal world.
Like every fanbase, we have some that need to take that recruiting chill pill, FANEX I think it is.

Most of the scholarships have already been accounted for. You may have to spread out 10 over the next five years, so two per year. We also aren’t paying the fines from Spyre money so none of the sanctions will have a drastic impact on recruiting.@Tennessee Golfer
We lose 28 scholarships over 5 years. That’s a whole class. How is that not a thing? lol
Spyre is just a pool of money. Everything still has to be orchestrated and maneuvered by the staff. Idk if the fines hurt that much but the lost scholarship and visit restrictions hurt a lot when you’re head to head with programs that don’t have those issues. Fewer spots=more selective with the guys you take and the compensation packages they get.

Already been accounted for is conveniently vague. Most of the scholarships have already been accounted for. You may have to spread out 10 over the next five years, so two per year. We also aren’t paying the fines from Spyre money so none of the sanctions will have a drastic impact on recruiting.
When Coach Garner was with Tennessee in the 90s , he coached TEs and OTs . Dan Brooks was the DL coach ( and a dang good one ) from the mid 90s until Phil's departure. He was replaced by Ed O. When Kiffin was hired . If my memory serves me , it seems like Dan Brooks landed at Clemson for a few years .When he was with us in the 90s he was pulling studs from Georgia then we he left to Georgia we stopped getting those studs… coincidence? I think not.
It’s been known for months that this kid just wants a bag. Last month Miami had all the smoke until their biggest donor got investigated for fraud. Auburn has been dropping bags left and right. No way that school after the **** show it’s been pulls a 5* from Alabama and Georgia. There is nothing RG could have done if a kids just wants money
We've already accounted for 18 of those scholarships, so it's 10 over the next 5 years. So, two a year. We're looking at a limit of 83 rather than 85.Already been accounted for is conveniently vague.
We self imposed scholly limits and what you’re talking about are the additional ones that didn’t fall under what we’d already self-imposed.
The staff did a good job of softening the blow, but it’s 28 scholarships lost no matter how you slice it.
No, the fine doesn’t come out of Spyre’s pool. But it does affect the recruiting budget. 8 million? Not gonna derail the class but it’s felt.
Anyone who thinks the recruiting sites can accurately distinguish a #5 class from a # 9 class... is delusional.
Weathersby is making some noise. Bradley is a "long way" from making a contribution. One scored 93.29 pts. The other scored 89.95. Want to guess which one is which? That's how "accurate" the recruiting sites are. They're "shotgun" accurate... not Marine sniper accurate.
Man you are way overblowing this thing. The only impact the sanctions will have on recruiting is we won’t be able to host OVs against Austin Peay. Oh the humanity!Already been accounted for is conveniently vague.

Auburn bound?
While he’s a great coach and I wouldn’t trade him, it feels like RG might be overrated as a recruiter and the barn might have been why they routinely landed stud after stud defensive lineman at Auburn.
Garner is one of the 5 greatest recruiters in SEC in the last 30 yrs. Any Tennessee fan that questions his ability is too ignorant to remember Jamal Lewis, Deon Grant & Cosey Coleman & their impact on a National Championship in 1998. He did the same at Ga & Aub later. RG hasn’t changed. The kids have. It’s about NIL money for these guys. Money will ruin more 5 stars than anything. Just watch. Auburn is spending “Yeller wood” money to rebuild their roster. Spyre can’t complete with that short term but Auburn won’t have this amount every yr.
RG is a great coach & he’ll develop great DL for Tennessee. We’re damn fortunate to have him.
