I was at the Purdue game, clearly the referees had an agenda. Reminded me of the first Pitt game. As a fan, you hope the calls even out, but in the Purdue game, a two tiered infraction standard was in place. IMHO!Until I'm pushing daisies, I will refuse to recognize Ole Miss and Purdue as losses, and not wins. Had touchdowns taken off the board in both games, touchdowns that would have won both games...touchdowns that should have NEVER been taken away. Very simple.
Everyone is free to recognize it and call it whatever they want...to me, and i will not be moved, Heupel is 20-6 since he got to Knoxville.
the self imposed 18 were already taken out previously. the NCAA said they were giving us credit for those reductions that happened before their ruling. They only imposed another 10Lol I’m amazed at how many here don’t get this.
We self imposed an 18 scholarship reduction. You can’t just say they’re "accounted for" and it magically goes away. The remaining 10 amount to 2 less per year over the next 5. People seem to think the 10 are all we had reduced and we voodooed the rest away somehow. Any way you slice it it’s 28 scholarships that can’t be used on players. It forces the staff to be a bit more selective.
It’s also hard to believe an $8 million fine isn’t felt when the entire recruiting budget is 3 million.
I’m not overly concerned about this stuff but to say it has no bearing is just naive.

This is literally a slap on the wrist for a program such as ours lol. Recruiting will only get better now that it's behind us.Lol I’m amazed at how many here don’t get this.

I think the only one that doesn't seem to understand it is you. We have absorbed a reduction of 18 total scholarships (9 per year) over the last two seasons. Going forward, we will have to absorb a total reduction of 10 additional scholarships (2 per year) over the next 5 years. Things should dramatically IMPROVE moving forward. Heupel just finished leading us to our best season in over 20 years while being HUGELY negatively impacted by scholarship reductions over the last two years.Lol I’m amazed at how many here don’t get this.

Kind of, the bowl ban would’ve been really bad so most fans laugh it off since we dodged that. This is literally a slap on the wrist for a program such as ours lol. Recruiting will only get better now that it's behind us.
We "absorbed" them. More vague language from someone who doesn’t know.I think the only one that doesn't seem to understand it is you. With respect to the $8 million fine, you seem to be assuming that amount will be deducted from the recruiting budget. That is likely a very poor assumption.
Wow. You’re clueless. There was nothing vague in my post.We "absorbed" them. More vague language from someone who doesn’t know.
It’s still 28 scholarships you can’t award whether they’re not used two years ago or they’re not used two years from now. If you have less spots you naturally have to be more selective with the ones you do have.
Y’all seem to think this is a "sky is falling" thing and it isn’t. Some of you froth at the mouth looking for any shred of negativity. I’m thrilled with the way Heup handled the NCAA stuff, and for the most part with the recruiting. But I don’t think under normal circumstances we’d get outbid by Auburn or even LSU for guys we want, and I’m not even saying Bates is one, Franklin maybe but I don’t care about them and I’m not bemoaning them going elsewhere.
But I’m telling you, I know some people down there. The NCAA stuff is not a huge deal but it’s not nothing either.
