'24 MS RB Daniel Hill

That's giving a high school kid a lot of credit. It's been reported publicly that it was between Bama and the Cocks since he set his commitment date. I don't think he would resume talks with our coaches and delay his commitment, just to legitimize having our hat on the table. This is usually the biggest life decision a kid has had to make. I think Coach Mack has just given him a little more to consider before making that decision. I don't know if it's a 3 team race now or not. But, the longer he delays, the better chance we have.

Gosh I hate to use THE worst troll cover post wording, but it is truthful and applicable here, I HOPE I AM WRONG.

Not sure another RB is a need in this class. Are we really pursuing, or is he just using us to tease Bama and the Cocks?

We were recruiting the kid from Arkansas, so I'm guessing the Coach's feel that we need 2. Doubt just any RB, but definitely the right one like Hill would be. Doubting Hill ends up here., though.

IMO he likes Mack and Tennessee, as well as the offense. He also really likes South Carolina (no clue why, they're a joke) but from what everyone is saying his family prefers Bama (at least to SoCar). So there's a chance the Vols are the compromise candidate...
I don't trust anybody that likes South Carolina

Mississippi RB Daniel Hill continues to have positive dialogue with Jerry Mack. He continues to tell folks he plans to visit Tennessee in the near future, however, It has been a task to get him to campus to this point, so we are in wait and see mode. If he makes it back, Tennessee can certainly make a run at him, but for now, we continue to hear the most about Alabama and South Carolina.

We might be in need of another RB in this class at the end of this season.

While recruiting on the 2024 front seems relatively slow, next weekend will be an important weekend for the Vols with Mississippi running back Daniel Hill and Peach State wide receiver Kam Mikell both expected in town for an official visit for the South Carolina game.
Hill continues to have positive talks with the Vols ahead of the upcoming official visit, and he is one who relates well with Jerry Mack. Tennessee will take a swing here when he makes it to campus and try to make things more interesting down the stretch. Alabama and South Carolina remain the biggest competition.

Feels like a long shot ….. BUT Uscjr run defense vs our rush offense is a major mismatch in this weekends game.

Great opportunity for us to show out if we can throw 150-200 rush yards on them. Couple that plus our amazing atmosphere for night games and it might help us build some momentum here.

“Our relationship has been really good for some time,” Hill said of Mack. “We have been building a great relationship for some time. We have been talking for a long time. Now, pretty much, we are talking every day. So that relationship is good.” “I would say it feels like he is a players coach,” Hill added about Mack. “He seems like someone you would want to play for. He tells you the ins and outs of everything. He talks to me about my game, and he tells me how he can help me develop and become a better person and player. That is what I would say stands out about him.”
“I just want to be able to go up there and feel like I am wanted,” Hill said of what he wants to see during the official visit. “I want to be able to feel the atmosphere and everything. That is pretty much it. I want to go up there and feel like the fans, coaches and players want me to be a part of their program.”
“I want to see how they get them out in space,” he said of what he will watch as the Vols take on South Carolina. “That is my playstyle, so seeing how they catch the ball out of the backfield, lining up in the slot, and things like that. I just want to see how they use their backs in those types of ways.”

The Mississippi back will get into town on Saturday morning, and the Vols are trying to swing to make a big move in this one. The longer it goes, the more of a chance Tennessee has, in our opinion. Alabama and South Carolina pace the way coming into the weekend, but Hill remains receptive to how Tennessee is recruiting him.
He has a strong bond with Jerry Mack, which has kept the Vols in this one to this point. We will see how much of a move they can make this weekend, then it will ultimately turn to when Hill looks to make a decision. His timeline has remained in flux.
