The issue is that we only have 4 scholarship RBs right now. I know we have Seldon coming next year that can play that position as well, but skipping that position as a whole is playing with fire. Especially if championships are the immediate goal now.
Who only plays one RB these days?
Hitting the portal for a running back didn't work out well for us this past off season. Also if you're just adding a body for depth you might as well take one of these high school kids with upside.
Name the next Gibbs that plays for a middle of the road to bad team?

I am focused on the present, and presently there is not a running back that is likely to transfer and win the starting job here.
We should run for 250+, They will try to prevent deep balls so we should run for 6+ a carry imoTheir RB's literally got 7 carries against UK. They did combine for 10 receptions, and Leach likes to use the pass to the RB's as an extension of the run game. But, aside from Youngstown State, every other opponent has run for 100+ yards against UK this year. USCe ran for 179, and Ole Miss ran for 186.

I deal in reality. It's gone on for this amount of time because I have other things to do than respond to you immediately. Here's reality... Gibbs played at GA Tech (a terrible team) and went to Bama where the starter went to the NFL and the back ups got little playing time. Zach Evans was at TCU another bad team (they went 5-7). He transferred to Ole Miss where their top 3 leading rushers entered the NFL draft. Tiyon Evans left UT (7-6 which is considered middle of the road) and transferred to Louisville (6-7) to split time with 3 other guys. Tiyon Evans is stupid. We will return our 4 RBs. A senior (who will be entering his 3rd year as a starter), a junior with plenty of playing time, a dynamic sophomore, and promising redshirt freshman. The kid from Wisconsin is a beast and has been the starter since he's been there. Their offense is nothing like ours and he will have a bevy of schools that will promise him a starting position. We are not one of those schools. Also @GregAmsler, yes we are only at the halfway point of the season, but that doesn't change any of what I've pointed out in this post. This debate began with someone saying that we shouldn't take a high school RB at all in this class and wait for one in the portal. I'm simply presenting why that is a terrible idea.No one said they couldn’t compete for major playing time. No one said they had to be the starter. Our starter was our 3rd leading rusher on Saturday. You seem so intent on having this argument that’s been going on for six hours that you’ve actually progressed to putting words in peoples mouth. It’s actually becoming a little bizarre.
Everyone knew what Gibbs could. When Alabama called, he listened. If it had been this year, I think we would have had a shot.Jahmir Gibbs rushed for 746 yards last year. We didn’t know at this time last year that he’d enter the transfer portal, go to Alabama, and become their stud. Same for Zach Evans to Ole Miss.
There will be 2-3 fantastic RBs in the portal. Being unable to identify them right at this moment doesn’t mean they won’t be there.
