The kid from Wisconsin is a beast and has been the starter since he's been there. Their offense is nothing like ours and he will have a bevy of schools that will promise him a starting position. We are not one of those schools. Also @GregAmsler, yes we are only at the halfway point of the season, but that doesn't change any of what I've pointed out in this post. This debate began with someone saying that we shouldn't take a high school RB at all in this class and wait for one in the portal. I'm simply presenting why that is a terrible idea.

Actuallly what I said WORD FOR WORD was that “It wouldn’t make me mad” if they did that. “ You seem to be struggling with the discussion and this makes the 3rd time you’ve misrepresented what myself or another poster said. I have presented reasons for my opinion and at least 2 other posters have tried to tell you why. I’m going to watch Yellowstone and let you argue with yourself for awhile.

We would have a shot, but who is comparable to Gibbs this year that won't be entering the NFL draft and not on a top 10 type team?

Yep. My arguments sound like I'm really struggling. 😂... The fact that you said that "You wouldn't be mad" doesn't change the fact that it would be a very risky and likely very bad strategy for this particular team. Enjoy Yellowstone my good sir.

Agree. I am no fan of Ole Miss or Lane Kiffin, but they finished 10-3 last season (second in the SEC west) and likely finish no worse than that this season.

The west isnt as good as it used to be. Its bama, ole miss (still not completely sold b/c their schedule has been bad), and sorta ms st & lsu. Everyone else is bad or overrated.

That's my point. Looking at the most dynamic running backs this year, how many are likely portal entries? The closest thing to Gibbs that isn't draft eligible is TreVeyon Henderson at Ohio St. He's been dinged up this season, but I can't see him hitting the portal.

LSU has a former 5 star that is stuck behind another 5 star and another really good RB.

But i think he's transferred once already

This is October 15th thinking around 3:34pm....start thinking 3:45 after the first TD. We need to change our thinking. Mauioga, Owens, Tate, Hobbs, gentlemen step up. UT is the new IT team...remember we are on the rise for Top 5 classes

Gibbs is a generational player. He's not typical of what you will find in the portal. But that doesn't mean you can't find good RB help. I'd be interested in that kid from Ball State if he were to enter the portal, Carson Steele. If we can't find our depth through recruiting, we will accomplish it through the portal. But I'm truly surprised that no highly rated RB wants to come to this offense. Plenty of rushing opportunities to be earned here.
