'24 MS WR JJ Harrell (Mississippi State commit)

Did I say anything about cutting him loose? I don’t remember it.
I actually did.

Unless this kid is a program changer which he doesn't appear to be then I would strongly consider pulling his offer since he publicly announced he is open and solicited others to recruit him. Why should UT hold a place for him if he's not really committed?

Heupel gives these kids a lot more latitude once committed than most. IMO, Harrell just went too far.

I wouldn't say too far. Wasn't like that Safety last year that went to Auburn. Smith maybe?

I think it was. Can't remember the exact words though they're probably linked here somewhere but he essentially said his recruitment was open and told other coaches to come recruit him.

Eh I am sure that the coaches have had the conversation with every commit that if they visit elsewhere they may still have their spot but only until someone else is willing to take it or they shut it down. No more gettin caught with our pants down.

Seldon will get some balls thrown to him too.

But we stil need good WRs in 2024 class as well.
Of course we do. I was merely pointing out that the coaches we have will find good WRs even if they have to get a 3* star no name and a portal player. So I am not freaking out like I was for about 15 years.

I'll tell ya something that has been down rite impressive in itself is the amount of guys last year that committed and never waivered.I mean coaches were getting told no and locked outta gyms,u had Kirby flying the Helicopter to recruits schools and all them dudes stayed solid except one late flip.

I'm sure most of us here follow recruiting but u all know how rare it is to keep a class togther. Then u add the spring and we hardly had any attrition or transfers. Why I'm not tripping on Harrell.Hes a good Wr not an elite guy but very good.If he's looking around then I'm not in the least bit concerned I know Coach has it covered.Dude their will be 5 more Wrs befor signing day that pop up outta nowhere over the summer..

That's a safe bet!
That's what makes recruiting fun.

I was thinking about the one that turned down UOV back here shortly before early signing day. told the coaches he was just going to stay home and hunt. Turns out he took a trip to Auburn, and flipped like the week of.

no warning he was going to "open" his recruitment, yet alone flip.
right before signing day, instead of 5 months out.
lied to the coaches.

those three things make it "too much" imo. a kid opening his recruitment up, openly, nah that's nothing. our coaches 100% take advantage of that for other schools, no reason to except other schools to not come after our guys. better than the days of Dooley where we were scrambling to get a 4 star from Arkansas State, or Nevada that no big program would touch.

I am sure all the guys hear never "opened up" a relationship and started chatting up girls before they officially broke up with their current gf. I am sure they don't want to insinuate that wanting to have some conversations with another girl inherently means you are cheating on your girl either. there are some mighty broad brushes people are painting with.

JJ Harrell has made some waves with his recent talk of his recruitment being very much open. Ole Miss and others were never going away so Tennessee was always going to have a fight on its hands to keep Harrell in the fold. Kelsey Pope was in Mississippi to check on him on Thursday as Tennessee battles to try to hold on
