I've heard that from some friends who go to MTSU. You know they'd like nothing more than to beat UT at our home court.

Challenge: I ask everyone who is going to the game to get there earlier than you usually would. With general admission tickets, the MTSU fans control where they sit. If they're there early, they can take over the front rows at TBA.

Let's make sure this doesn't happen! GBO!

They have a great shot to win if:

1. They play a 2-3 zone
2. Maymon does not play.
3. We shoot from outside and do not try to get it in the middle.

If two of these happen they win.(Imo)

Excellent animal, I have one as well ... His ear is split in half right now.. He killed a groundhog 3 days ago and has some battle scars

This isn't surprising. UT is going to have to bring their A game. MTSU is very motivated to beat us and they will if UT struggles some.

We cannot overlook this team. MTSU can knock off almost anyone in the country on a good night

Has MTSU played a zone defense much this year? Not all zones are created equal. Just throwing one out there against UT without really having played it much doesn't seem very likely.

Exactly.

Just because we suck against a zone doesn't mean a team will all of a sudden institute it.

How much zone did savannah state play?

We can definitely expect to get their best effort, but coach Zo will have the guys psyched.

Can't lose this game. I have way too many MTSU friends for that to happen. I'd never hear the end of it. The baseball loss was bad enough.

1 and 2. Expect a wrinkle in zone if Maymon does not play.

3. An Advantage will definitely be home court and feel for the 3 point shot.

4. We have to get recruit or improve drastically in three point shooting.

5. Watch the board totals.

I agree this is the game of the year for MTSU. A lot to be said about it. I am glad they think so that is self imposed pressure.

Does not take much against this team. We settle for the outside shot more times than not.

MTSU is pretty good, they were in the discussion for an at large bid to the NCAA's for a while.

Gonna be a tough game and pretty fun to watch, they will most certainly zone us, but coach Martin knows this and will be preparing for it.

This is a big game for Skylar to knock down some open threes and for Josh to be a cutter and knock down some mid range shots

If Cuonzo doesn't play Maymon and/or Hall, we can expect to lose this game.

Meh, we are pretty good at home and had a strong showing late against sav state.

Sav state happend to win the regular season in the meac. the same confernce Norfolk hails from that beat mizzou iirc

We should be favored regardless imo

So your saying a college team can not adjust there defense in 5 days to hurt a teams offense?

He may not be saying it but I will. It's silly to think a team can install and play a good zone defense in 5 days. Now if MTSU has played zone some already, then all bets are off. However, if they have been strictly man all year, I don't expect much of a zone, or at least a good one. Syracuse has been running a 2-3 zone FOREVER, and yet there are still years they play bad zone defense. If it was as easy as throwing it out on the floor like people think, then everyone would play zone and there would be no man-to-man coached by anyone. Teaching a good zone defense takes weeks of practice and MTSU hasn't had that. The 20 hour rule limits what they can put in in even 5 days. Again, the big question is has MTSU played any zone this year?

You say this like you know this. Does MTSU run a lot of zone? Or are you just assuming this because It seems UT has struggled vs zone?

That's exactly what I'm saying.

Look at it the other way. Do you think Tennessee could implement a good zone defense in time for this game against MTSU?

No.

It takes more than 5 days to implement and effectively use a new defense, that nobody has even discussed in practice all year.

People keep saying this.

Savannah state didn't play zone this yea apparently, and they played ZERO against us.

Yet everyone was saying the same thing, they'll zone us they'll zone. Yet guess what, they didn't.

Well not if they haven't zoned all year they won't. Even our horrible zone offense would look beautiful against a 5 day old zone team.

I am just making an assumption that has no ground

If MTSU uses any zone then they are very likely to play a zone, if they don't play zone then don't expect it

if coach martin watches the MTSU tape and sees that they periodically have zoned teams then he should have a pretty good hunch that we should emphasize zone offense in practice

the point is that coaches watch tape and they aren't idiots, they will know what is coming one way or the other. You think teams practice their zone offense before heading into Knoxville to play us? No

Okay. I'm with you. Everyone keeps talking about MTSU playing zone Monday night, yet I haven't seen anyone who knows if they actually play any zone.
