Defensive Dan Mullen: Now isn't the time for Florida to focus on recruiting

Mullen said this nugget about recruiting today. Not to take away his coaching ability, but as the representative of the football program, he seems to make boneheaded comments and decisions a lot. Funny thing is I thought most Florida fans were unhappy with how the season has gone, but were still supportive of him. After these comments, their boards are pretty lit up with anger towards him.

But but but he's a genius, an offensive guru, just look what he could do at Mississippi State, if he could do that there, there's no limit for him at a place like Gainesville, zomg, what can this be about, this is DAN MULLEN we're talking about, show a little respect, where's all the love we saw for him last year!

lol

Go Vols!

He’s basically begging for Strickland to fire him. He’s a solid coach, but he’s not cut out to be HC at a Tier 1 job.

Based on his actions with the QBs at Florida to be a QB guys he makes himself look like a polished Pruitt

Its time that Division 1 schools who need a coach in the off season to learn a lesson from the Tennessee, Texas, Vandy, VTech, among others and not hire the OC or DC thats a hot name because they aint working out at all.

Guys... you need to create faux accounts and make posts supporting him getting an extension and raise. He needs to stay at UF as long as Richt stayed at UGA. Heupel needs a head start.

Based on what exactly?

If the staff stays together and depth comes in Tennessee wont be down for long.

As long as Mullen is there and hes got a senior QB no matter the talent level the right guy will never start.

and with the way kids are jumping to the portal im shocked AR hasnt walked away from Florida even though some say hes more of a gator than Tebow.

I wanted Hugh Freeze, but he got Liberated.

Unfortunately I am really starting to believe that hes been burned and the commissioner will never bring him in as long as hes in charge.
Somebody should have taken a chance and no one did theres got to be something to that outside of the hookers and blow

I will admit that I was one of the ones that wanted him, but look at what we had at the time, anything was a step up.

Idk about that, is he better than Pruitt sure you can support that with facts on the field. looking at what else is happening around the team and program I dont think they are that different

They are both Stubborn as a mule
They both cant recruit well
They both give the fans flashes of hope at the right times to make them believe again
Pruitt didnt care about offense Dan doesent care about defense

Im sure he will get another year and theyll come to terms with Grantham but watch and see who they hire and it wont be someone who out shines Mullens offense.

More than likely, you're right. Nonetheless, my take is it can't be much worse than the stink of Stanky. What Hugh did was bad, but more than that, he was stupid, using his employer's phone to do what he did. Wow! How dumb can you get? Still, there are no saints among coaches. All of them have stepped in cow pies or horse bubbles at some point or another. Just look at the coaching and physician mess in gymnastics, swimming, Penn. State, and now even a macho hockey player. If you want to test a man's character, give him power. -Quote often misattributed to Abraham Lincoln-

I remember a lot of folks on this site wanted him.

And he would have been 1000x better than Pruitt....

One coach inherited a 4 win team and won 16 games in 3 years and left a NCAA mess

The other inherited a 4 win team, won 29 games in 3 years, the SEC East, and went to 3 NY 6 Bowls.

Because it gives UT an advantage in recruiting and on the field. The right coach at UF basically decides who he wants out of FL. Mullen does not have that going for him.

The longer Mullen is there... the more opportunity there is for Heupel to sell his program to the best HS players in FL.

Mullen is a weirdo.
He is and always has been.

Freeze would not be hired by my company to do my job. That's not because I'm really, really "special". Most companies I've worked for will not hire people with morals compromised publicly like his were. He wasn't applying to be an auto mechanic. He was applying to lead a massive, multi-faceted organization that includes young men who need a strong, morally sound leader.

I actually like Freeze but he's going to have to spend his time in jail and redeem his reputation.

If only Heupel was selling against Mullen and only Mullen for the best HS players in Florida.

LOL... you really, really ought to think that through.

A year ago, a lot of businesses had people laid off and were not hiring. Now... everyone is hiring. It went from too many "sellers" to too many "buyers". Mullen is one less "buyer" at a place capable of being the strongest "buyer".

But please... keep him. Don't ever fire him... EVER.

Lulz indeed… 😂

Your attempt to draw a parallel between post-vaccine employment opportunities and college football recruiting is noted.
