He’s at Liberty their code of conduct says morals 489 times so what gives?
Problem is, this doesn’t appear to be the last of Mullen’s “off years”. 8-4 doesn’t cut it when your historic division rival is competing for top recruiting classes and SEC/national titles.
Our recruiting class is currently ranked 35th, which is never acceptable, let alone when UGA is cherry picking 5* kids left and right while likely cruising into the CFP.
Mullen was an early adopter on mining talent from the transfer portal, now the rest of the country has caught up.
Mullen is a PR train wreck when adversity hits. He lacks self-awareness and is often tone deaf to the most obvious of situations. It took a UGA beat down for him to finally take some accountability…after crapping the bed in consecutive years to weak LSU squads.
He won’t be fired after this season, unless he refuses to overhaul his staff. Next year if nothing changes he’s likely sent packing.
Ranked 22nd on 247. And they only have 13 commits. Clemson is the only team above them with the same or less commits. They'll finish top 15 easy, if not top 10. But regardless, I do agree that he could stand to do a better job recruiting.
Again, a little bad luck and sloppy play on 3 of those losses, which were by 7 points or less. That's certainly on him, but UF could just as easily be 7-1 with better luck. 8-4 in a rebuilding year is pretty dang good for teams that aren't Bama or Ohio State. I still say UF's expectations are way too high considering the state of their program over the last 10 years. Having a coach that consistently 9-10 games in the SEC is nothing to sneeze at.
We don’t do cartwheels over being ranked #22 in recruiting either, and we should have more than 13 commits at this point. Given where Clemson is right now, that’s not exactly a favorable comparison.
Regarding “bad luck and sloppy play”, UF hasn’t lost the same way all season.
Offense played well against Bama but couldn’t overcome early defensive lapses and special teams mistakes.
Special teams cost us once again at UK while the offense sputtered all night.
Defense was garbage against a bad LSU team…again.
Offense kept handing points to UGA this past weekend. Mullen going for it on 4th and 13, against that defense, at that point in an otherwise competitive game, was an absolute head scratcher.
It took this past weekend for Mullen to acknowledge what everyone else could plainly see. There are glaring weaknesses in all phases of this football team.
And given that we’ve lost two top commits last week, the media is more than justified in asking questions about recruiting. Mullen’s answer was music to everyone’s ears outside of Gainesville.
LSU might be the best job in the country because as best I can tell, it is plug and play. Even though they are in the SEC West. The last 3 guys that have coached there have won national titles, and 2 of those guys have room temp IQs. That state puts out an insane amount of talent per capita, almost all of it stays in-state, and they don't have to fight any in-state rivals for it.LSU isn't a bad team. They just aren't coached that well. Only about 3-4 other teams have more talent than they do. LSU should honestly win 8-9 games a year on talent alone.

Not saying that UF doesn't need to make staff changes or things like that. But you guys do need to realize where you've been (mediocre since Meyer left) and where you're currently at (CFP contenders every under Mullen, prior to this year).
UF doesn’t get a pass for losing to LSU, not this year or last year…especially last year.
UF fans are well aware of where we’ve been, and that’s exactly why Dan Mullen doesn’t get a pass on recruiting poorly, making questionable personnel decisions (what if Franks never gets hurt), keeping around underperforming assistants, and routinely coming off as anything but self-aware when adversity comes calling.
This man is in panic mode. I wonder how long the boosters will give him from pulling the plug on media and firing this clown and his team losing games like a plague. I'm so glad UT passed on this A&& hat. We didn't need this and for those that were adamant for him how do you feel now? He has shown he wasn't what we wanted at UT.
No one "gets a pass" on losses. The point was you were calling LSU a bad team. That isn't true. They are poorly coached, but they have enough talent to beat any team in the nation.
Franks was a good QB. His 2018 season was really good at UF, which is why he was on a lot of pre-season watch lists coming into the 2019 season. He also played well at Arky in 2020 and is currently the back-up QB to Matt Ryan. So obviously Mullen had plenty enough reason to be high on Franks. And if he doesn't get hurt, odds are he would have played better as the 2019 season went on.
By LSU standards those are bad teams despite the talent.
Trask was a Heisman finalist, while at his very best Franks was an above average college QB…or as you stated, “good”.
Franks had the very same elite weapons to work with (Pitts, Toney, Grimes, etc.), but Trask took our offense to another level. You can’t argue otherwise.
Franks as a sophomore in a new system had 2800 total yards of offense and 31 total TDs in 11 games. Trask 2019 (in parts of 12 games) 2900 yards and 29 total TDs.
I'm not gonna argue that Trask didn't a better QB. He obviously did. But Franks was a good QB himself and Trask hadn't played meaningful football in 3 years.
You can't change the narrative. You said LSU is a bad team. They are not. They are one the most talented teams in the country with a poor coach/staff.
It's Liberty... Where Jerry Falwell Jr. enjoys watching male students and pool boys bang his wife and their moral code punishes students for reporting sexual assault. That place is so twisted and Freeze is like another Jimmy Swaggart.
And yet, after 2019 Franks decided to transfer, in spite of having comparable stats pre-injury, and Trask having not played meaningful football in 3 years.
Franks was good, Trask was elite.
So I suppose you're gonna rip Saban for not starting Tua over Jalen Hurts? What about Dabo starting Bryant over Lawrence?
There was nothing Franks was doing that warranted a QB change. And nobody knew anything about Trask, who was like 2000th rated recruit out of high school. Florida fans would have wanted to burn Mullen at the stake if he started a career back-up who was barely a recruit, over Felipe Franks.
Franks was well on his way to losing consecutive games against Kentucky before he got hurt.
I’m not at all concerned with how Saban or Dabo manage their QB situation, but your attempt to expand the argument is noted.
1. I didn't realize Franks won/lost games by himself.
2. Kentucky was/is a good team. So I'm not sure why you're trying to use them as some sort of baseline for poor play.
3. The point is, no coach is going to start an unknown QB (particularly a 2000th ranked QB with minimal experience) over their current talented QB with starting experience that was a prototypical type of QB for the system they currently run. That doesn't happen. Like ever.
But Trask wasn’t an unknown prior to 2019. Franks got benched against Missouri in 2018, and Trask played very well, showing glimpses of what we would eventually see in 2019 and 2020.
Trask unfortunately was injured and didn’t play the rest of the season, and in Franks’ defense, he played better down the stretch. Without a running game…at all…in 2019, Trask ultimately became the obvious answer after Franks’ injury.
There were whispers about why Mullen didn’t see the potential in Trask sooner, similar to the criticism of playing Jones vs Richardson this season.
See also Dak Prescott waiting behind Tyler Russell at Mississippi State in 2013, when most considered Prescott to be the better option. Like Trask, it took an injury to Russell for Dak to see the field.
And I reject the notion that a less talented Kentucky team should be in a position to beat UF in consecutive years regardless of who starts at QB, but that’s where we are with Mullen.
So you're going by 1 game against Mizzu as your basis? Come on man.
And UK is less talented for sure. They are games UF should probably win since they are the more talented team. My point was simply that this isn't your father's Kentucky program. They can no longer be considered the SEC little brother and guaranteed wins. They are developing players very well, particularly on defense. So chalking them up as automatic wins is silly.

Sorry, but Tennessee didnt "pass" on Mullen. Mullen passed on Tennessee for Florida. Facts are most of the fan base and media in Tennessee would have widely taken him as late as 6 weeks ago. Not until Mizzou and Sc games have Vols bought CJH.
I was never a Mullen guy. I saw alot I didnt like at Miss St.
