The problem with America. The strange belief that police should be able to do anything necessary to enforce an ever growing number of unnecessary laws.

Agreed, elections are the only way to stop it.

And that is why he have more and more laws that legislate every conceivable possibility. People are willing to do whatever crap they can to make a buck if it is within their legal rights. Common sense and moral decency take a second seat to profit. Obsession with profit drives laws and regulations. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

My issue isn't with that. It's the way removing him was handled. I would like to know how he ended up so bloodied

Then I guess our choices are drive, walk, follow the rules, or don't go.

Or....or when i pay for a seat (a service) which requires advanced planning, expenditures, etc, the company providing that service does EVERYTHING in their powerto provide the service regardless of what their contract says.

Cruise lines, Amtrak, Bus lines they all have similar contracts.

Hold up. They have similar contract but when was the last video of someone being removed from a cruise ship because the carnival crew had to get to the ship in the Bahamas?

Would you give a shat if a trespasser you called the cops to remove ended up bloody while resisting?

I think that's subjective. Depends on exactly how everything goes down. There are some scenarios where I'd agree and some where I wouldn't.

That's because an overwhelming majority of the people follow the rules.

Just pointing it out. I actually sat and read our contract for our first cruise and almost canceled the trip. They can throw you in the brig and disembark you at will and good luck suing them.

You're a property rights guy, correct? That airplane is private property and both parties agreed to a contract. The passenger didn't live up to his end of the contract an was trespassing.

Don't get me wrong, I think this was handled poorly by UA and the cops but there is only one party definitely (passenger) and one (cops) possibly in the wrong.

OP premise is a bit of an exaggeration. They didn't march him off to a concentration camp. He just wouldn't follow LAWFUL orders to leave the plane.

Heavy handed and an overreaction by the cops? Yes. Could have been handled much better? Yes. Something we all relate to because air travel is now exhausting and frustrating? Yes.

Some sort of symbol of a police state? F^ck No. Let's not meet this overreaction with one of our own.
