Music and Fist pump

You do realize that when I was 20 years old and at UT we didn't listen to marching band music at our parties. The band and gameday traditions will last because they are great and are timeless. The world has been heading that way forever but kids will always complain about the grown-ups and the grown-ups will get their way because they pay for everything. Rap music was probably more popular when Dooley was in college than it is now. Current music and DJ's are fine for a spring game.

So what exactly are you disagreeing with me about? I never said the band or gameday traditions would go away. I highly doubt rap was more popular, but that's whatever. I stated it's odd that people are so upset about a little rap and the band being toned down in spring scrimmage. He is obviously just trying to cause excitement for recruits. What'd we disagree on?

I was just pointing out this isn't the first generation that liked their own music and were taking the country down the tubes. Dooley was in college from 1987-1990. I can see him rockin' the MC Hammer pants and listening to Ice, Ice Baby while drinking some funky cold medina. In all seriousness rap was huge from 1987-1990. NWA, Public Enemy,IceT, Rob Base, EZ-E, Big Daddy Kane were all big while he was in college.

Ok if any of you have been to LSU when they do Chinese Bandits when the defense stops the offense on third down or a turnover and did not think it was awesome is somewhat crazy. When the band plays that and 90 thousand start bowing to the defense like they do is great. I like the idea of it but like said previously we need something from the band at that time because if everyone does it like asked it might be pretty cool IMO. The blue hairs do not have to do it and that is fine but good grief what is wrong with doing it. SMH!

look, i don't hate the guy completely from a human being standpoint. i ain't no more important than anyone else. though i do see tons of vol big shot fans that they are. i do appreciate being in the program. and yes people earn their degrees that is good but expensive, but anytime you turds want to tell me i ain't a fan i have a right to challenge and prove you morons otherwise. hence the part about the degree. i am proving you all wrong that i am a fan with facts jack! The whole reason i even showed my signed jerseys was because of a comment that vollygirl made.

foster was disrespectful to Tennessee football by fumbling and costing us wins. but magically he does not ever fumble in the pros. my guess is he don't wanna fumble his money away. i wish i would have gotten his autograph yesterday as i would have sold it immediately on ebay and made some $$$. he would be the only one i would sell though.

Decade-old butthurt?

Music was lame and IMO disrespectful. DJ Arian Foster...really? I want some football, if I wanted to go to the club that's where I would have went. I felt it was very disrespectful to our band, our traditions, and most of all our fans. I'm 35 and like some hip hop. But not during my live UT football games. And a large number of people there didn't like the type of music. In fact, I left mid 3rd quarter and went to the baseball game because I was so disgusted with the clown show that used to be the O/W game.

I just feel like CBJ is trying a bit to hard to hype things up. The last two coaches we had brought the hype factor in the beginning as well. Keep that in mind.
Yeah those two hundred recruits should have country rammed down their throats because its about me. Not them. ME!

What is a mellophone? The band is great but it isn't why people come to the game. They don't need any help. I have never sat there and thought, 'Damn I wish I could hear the mellophone playing.'
Sometimes I sit at the games and say," Damn we're playing so bad right now some Drake or uncensored Lil Wayne would be good right now"

I was standing on the sideline, very near the "DJ booth". I can tell you that the former players seemed to be having a great time. I was within arms reach of Al Wilson, Heath Shuler, Justin Hunter, Montario Hardesty, Arian Foster, and more. The recruits that I saw mingling around really dug the atmosphere.

I am generally very traditional, but the atmosphere on the sidelines was amazing and palpable. For those of you saying that you left early because you were disappointed that it wasn't what you expected; realize that the UT you knew died years ago. This is the first sign of life in almost half a decade and you act disappointed.

To the people that are saying that the band is a great tradition, it is, but it is there to support the football team. When you make an argument that things have to be done for you to hear the band, it is like telling the football players to sit down so you can watch the cheerleaders. You are looking at the wrong thing.

Personally, I think things have been reborn. Perhaps it is time and everything is in it's infancy, but I really like where this is going.
This is too rational.

Your statements confuse me. Forgive me but I need some clarity to understand. So, how does one go about becoming an alumni by blood, without that "piece of paper"? I know how I earned my paper, and there was blood, sweat and tears involved. Does my dad being a degree holder from UT mean that I too, am a Vol by blood?

So you are telling us all that you are important, hence the reference to your picture being in the program for a second year. I think I got that part, but let me ask: does that picture in the program mean that UT asks you, a super fan by birth and donation, your opinion on anything? If not, what is the point of you telling us how important you are? If they do, why did they not take your advice this time, about whatever opinion you had that got you all upset to begin with?

Man, enjoy the ride. None of us, well very very few, have any direct say in what happens.
This.
