My Heisman ballot is in

Just to let you know K-Town.... Bradford had almost 200 more attempts passing than Tebow did. If you compare the 2 and say Tebow had the same amount of passing attempts, Tebow would have more yardage and passing tds. You can't look at the passing yardage between the 2 because Bradford had 200 more attempts throwing the ball. Tebow got more first downs for his team than Bradford did... and Tebow is more important to his team than Bradford is to his.

Bradford has a 3% better completion rating.
Bradford averages almost 1 more yard per pass attempt than Tebow which would give Bradford 442 more yards than Tebow if they both had the same amount of attempts.

Also, your wrong about the TD's.

Tebow averaged a TD every 9.58 attempts, which rounds to 10. If you give him the same amount of attempts as Bradford (442), that gives Tebow 44.2 passing TD's, which rounds to 42.

Bradford has 6 more passing TD's then.

I hope Tebow gets it just so the Heisman curse is placed on him and he'll fail to win a NC...

But in all honesty, was Tebow really the best college football player? I like to look at this award as whose most valuable to their team AND whose the best football player.

Last year, Tebow was, by far, the most valuable player for Florida. When he was hurt, it seemed like the whole team was dysfunctional (see UGA game). This year, however, Florida is a much more dynamic offense with many many many weapons. If we took Tebow out of Florida and Brantley was the starter, I still think Florida would've reached the SEC championship game but may not have won. Without Tebow, Florida is still 9-3 / 10-2 IMO.

Stats wise, Bradford and Harrell impress the most. When you break it down, I think Harrell is most important to his team. If we took Harrell out of that system, I don't think TT would be anywhere near a one loss team right now. Look at Mike Leach in the past. This team is based around Harrell.

IMO, Harrell is the most impressive player in college football this year.

I think Timmy is as deserving of the Hypesman as the other guys are. I just wish you could've refrained from the Superman reference in your article... :glare:

Just kind of a point though, you say that Texas' defense is only good for 11th in the SEC, but you need to take in to account that the offenses are much better than the offenses (can you even call them that?) in the SEC.

Vandy=117th scoring offense
Tennessee=115
Miss State=113
Kentucky=105
Auburn=102
South Carolina=97

Sure the SEC defenses are slightly better, but it's clear that these teams would have an awful offense no matter what, so it pads the defenses stats.

You could probably say the same for the Big XII though, but the defenses are at least competent from what I've seen. We'll see come bowl season I guess.

True wisdom. :rock::rock:

How many of Bradford's TDs and yards came with Oklahoma up by 21 points or more against some hapless opponent?

We'll see what kind of QB Bradford is when he meets Mr. Spikes.

Agree with this sentiment.

Also, Mike, I think you talked about it more in another post, but Tebow's role as a leader on the UF team, especially following the Ole Miss loss will become folklore if the Gators win the NC.

Couldn't you say the same for Tebow? Both Tebow's backup (Brantley) and Bradford's (Halzle) have about the same number of attempts. 28 and thirty respectively.

Its gotta be Colt McCoy, he completes 78% of his passes which is unbelieveable, he has 32 TDs to only 7 ints, leads his team in rushing with 576 yards and 10 TDs

I think the Heisman voting should be done before the championship games. Just based on regular season games. The reason being is because since OU jumped Texas and got to play in the Big 12 Championship game and UF got to play in the SEC championship game that clearly gave Tebow and Bradford a chance to sway voters because they had an extra game to showcase in. Colt McCoy is just as deserving as those 2 but didn't have that extra game to prove it to the voters.

Texas got ripped off in a big way...and I would have liked to have seen Boise State play the Horns in the Fiesta...

He's Danny Wuerffel with more talent, supersized.

Yeah I think if Texas had held out agains the Red Raiders you have to say hands down it goes to McCoy. Unfortunately, voters don't pick the best player they vote for whoever's bandwagon they are on currently. Remember 1997. McCoy's stats are unbelievable, nobody completes 80% of their passes. He probably had more touchdown passes in two games than Crompton and Stephens managed to put together in 12. Say that big 12 defenses are inferior all you like, but I still think McCoy is worthy of the Heisman after the kind of year he had.

The two national Heisman polls I have seen reflect that...he may get the sympathy vote because the Big 12 messed him and the Horns over

Seeing Eric Berry getting just 1 vote would have made me happier, because I feel for that kid playing his heart out on a team that otherwise just looks like it doesn't care.

That said, Tebow is a better choice than anyone out there. The b12 QBs play in a league with no defense, and what Tebow has done, willing his team to a national title, is nothing short of amazing.

I think Tebow is hands down the best player in the country!

I also think he will be back for one more season....then we may have a chance against them :)

If the Vols had a winning record...I probably woulda moved him to No. 5 on my Rocky Mountain vote

Unfortunately the game is played after the selection, so based on his numbers I think Bradford will get it.

The same, against much worse out of conference competition, can be said about Harrell and McCoy.

Florida and Oklahoma will play for the National Championship; I feel the consolation prize for Texas will be the Heisman for McCoy.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think that Tebow represents what remains as the "best part" of college football. A kid/young adult personally took responsibility for leading UF back from an embarrassing loss to Ole Miss and put up phenomenal numbers with the team on his back to make a run all the way to the NC game. And, he did it with humility and class. Also, remember that he is asked to put himself in harm's way and run the football into the teeth of the defense every week.

Every year, people have said that Tebow "wouldn't survive in the SEC," that teams would eventually knock him out, etc. etc. Well, you know what? He did, and they didn't. Give it to him.

Verne Lundquist compared Tebow's crying fit and guarantee not to loose again, to the Win one for the Gipper speech. Please stop. My god.

While I won't watch & really won't even care that I miss it (yes, it's a Peyton thing!), I have to say this year I'm slightly curious about one minor aspect... who did Tebow vote for?

Totally....or he would have pulled Tebow.

I doubt pulling Tebow crosses his mind much in any game. I think it's going to take a Mike Shula moment (a few years ago when Croyle got hurt in a game he shouldn't have been in) to change the way he handles those situations.
