my own wrapup tonight, if I may

You've been shocked a few times this year, here's to another.

I didn't predict a loss to a bad AL team. In addition, name one game this season that any of us should be " shocked" that we won. I can think of several times I have been shocked we lost ( Xavier, UTEP, NC St., Tex. A&M, Vandy). Let's face it, this team and coaching staff has completely failed to this point to meet any expectations any of us had going into this season.

Not taking sides here, but I was pretty shocked we went to LSU and won. Especially being as early in the season as it was. haha

I understand this complaint. But the zone didn't prevent outside shots- they were missing them. The zone did prevent penetration and caused problems inside. It is what it is, but Richardson was in Wilbekin's face on the 3.
The difference were the 3 point shots were desperation ones with time running out with the 1-3-1. How do you get a shot over the leaping Josh if he was in his face? He was too far away when he made his move because of the man to man. He spotted up and drained it!

Agreed
This is not a talented team and the basketball IQ low, this team is only good when they make 3s because neither big can get a shot off in the paint and Jordan is the only guy that can consistently create his own shot.

THE END

Have you not noticed how much our defense struggles?

BTO, I hate to say it, but we seem to struggle more out of the TO. We continue to struggle in the 2nd half of games. Florida is a really good team, but we could have beat them last night. They know how to close out games and we do not.

And how many layups and dunks can a team miss in one game???

If we hit our dunks, free throws and layups last night and win by 5+, are people still criticizing Martin for his performance last night? Food for thought.

To talk about something different outside of the obvious.

UT is atrocious in regards to the screen and roll. On both ends of the floor.

The basis of offensive basketball, imo. Not being able to defend consistently is one thing. Not being able to run it at all on offense is embarrassing. We send a high pick up to the pg at the key, but there is nowhere to go and the defender isn't even worried about the pick. That's it. Stokes picking and rolling for McRae on the left side with everybody else as far away as possible would be a decent idea every year or 3.

The screen setter doesn't appear to be a valid option on our end or its so slow that its irrelevant to the play.

Ive never been a fan of just calling out the pick and standing behind the screen on D. That turns into 2-1 more often then not. Stepping out allows the player being screened to fight through or gives you the opportunity to switch. Id rather have 2 options and not play it the same way everytime. Of course that requires BB IQ and constant communication. That may be the issue.
