My Question is…

Personally speaking, today was an absolute shock. Did not expect to see this program struggle bs my little hometown college. We got straight up pushed around on the field. That’s a gut punch and I can see how some would pump the brakes.
We didnt get pushed around the field....defense had seven sacks on the day.

Drops, bad throws, and untimely penalties were the problem

I don't care if I am the last person who still supports this team. The ones who turn loyalties based on one subpar game can expect the types of posts that I and several other posters have posted. Such a whiney group some of you are. It has been fun laughing hysterically at your sanctimonious posturing. I am going to stop......for now. Most of the LOTM are probably drunk by this time anyway.
That is utterly false, my friend. I was drunk before it started....thankfully.

Yeah, but I don't generally consider you one of the LOTM, though. You stay pretty consistent.
Thank you, I try, and you're a good guy too. But dayim, there is no spin for how we looked tonight, sorry. Milton was throwing balls about 100 mph on the back shoulder of crossing routes, for G_d's sake. How long has he been in the system? I think there's little chance of redeeming him. Bring Nico in for good if this guy looks like this in the Q1 of Florida. We're beating Austin Peay 13-6 at halftime? Luckily we weren't playing Austin East..lol.

I do truly understand that it was not a good look for the team. It was very out of sync. My issue is with those that are ready to completely write of the team for an ugly win. For the last 15 years, this would have been an ugly loss.

Yeah, really like Joe and was pulling for him . Joe has had his chance to prove himself but has failed. Strongest arm in football but ineffective. If one could throw a baseball 150 mph yet could never throw a strike , well that’s Joe # Nico now

Say Milton gets benched in the Swamp and Nico struggles as well, what’s going to be the excuse?

The WRs should have made several catches from Milton tonight.
That’s what should happen though. If one guy can’t do it… Go to the next. Then the next. Pruitt, to an extent lost his entire career because he wouldn’t fix his roles. Jc played his entire three years as coach. We had other guys every year that should’ve gotten a chance when JG was terrible.

Milton isn't gonna be here next year. If he looks like garbage in the first half, you pull him and you start building for the future with Nico. This team isn't going 10-2 with either QB. Need to take the same approach with the defense. Time to bench some defensive backs and start going young.
haha. Good grief dude.

Are you seriously talking about conceding the season after the 2nd game?

I don't think the coaching staff trusts the offensive line in pass blocking for medium and long routes so this offense is limited as you are seeing. The drops and missed throws make it look really bad.

I think the WRs have not lived up to expectations. Ive seen several throws by Milton that would have been game changers had they been caught. Milton does still overthrow but if the good passes are caught nobody would care about the bad passes.

Not really conceding the season, but am making a point that is pretty solid. We are not duplicating what we did last season. No Tennesse fan with functional brain will disagree with that after what we saw yesterday. What's sad though, is with solid QB play, we could duplicate what we did last year from a win-loss record. But Milton just doesn't have it. Nico likey isn't ready, but we've got to start getting him ready for next year at some point. I still trust Heupel with the offense. The defensive coaching is garbage though.

Keyton and Bru are usually reliable so I chalk that up as uncharacteristic. Milton HAS to be better plain and simple

Also the playcalling in the bowl game with the exact same roster on offense besides Darnell at RT compared to what we've seen so far is completely different right now.
Cooper missing at center

First I’m not ready to throw in the towel on Milton yet. That said though if he struggles versus Florida this year we pretty much know what we have in him. Nico may struggle if he has to play, he probably will. At some point (and I believe it’s against a bad Florida team if we struggle) we have to stop making excuses for Joe. If he can’t win in the swamp this year he’s probably not the guy to lead this team.

This is pretty much my thoughts on it as well.

Overall, the team just didn’t look like it wanted to be there last night. You could sense it during the Vol walk and during warmups. Hopefully it was just a matter of overlooking an FCS opponent but they never really seemed to respond all night, even when things started looking dicey.
