My Question is…

Say Milton gets benched in the Swamp and Nico struggles as well, what’s going to be the excuse?

The WRs should have made several catches from Milton tonight.
Agreed…Milton had several bad plays but the WRs played worse IMO…I say get Webb and Nimrod more time if Keyton and Thornton in particular don’t get it together

The only way to reconcile yeaterday and week 1 against UVA is that the Vols just cashed it in trying not to play too hard or get hurt. I think they knew they would win and played way down to their level of competition. Surely UVA is a bettet team than AP.

We destroyed UVA, AP looked abysmal against whoever they played, we cashed it in looking ahead to next week, they came to play and played as well as they possibly could…

All of this is almost certainly true…all the same, Milton and the WRs still played awful and have to be substantially better

Sure enuf...and the pollsters, the media, the future opponents,,etc. There is not one positive coming out of this game. This game was a huge embarrassment. I sure hope it's fixable, but somehow, I doubt it.

Small had a good game and so did a few d lineman; the punting game improved and our field goal kicker looks solid. I am hopeful the pass protection will improve with Mays return but I have zero confidence in Milton, it’s year 5 for him

You’re never as good, or bad as you think you are. I believe these kids only get “up” for a couple of games each year, and that’s college football. Delay at start coupled with a lackadaisical attitude made this game really ugly. It’s a good teaching opportunity for the coaches, and didn’t come at the expense of a loss. Milton is talented, but I’m not sure if he’s a “gamer”. Hopefully the team will show an overall progression as the season plays out.

Milton is just a bad QB but the receivers didnt do him any favors. The biggest problem is that Heupel doesnt trust Milton to throw it anymore and everyone with eyes can see that. Including our opponents.

Gotta love how every single year the playbook is always “closed” or “vanilla” because we’re hiding something from our future competition when we struggle. Every year.
I think you completely misunderstood him. He was implying that the playbook was closed because Milton is hot garbage. Not because we are hiding stuff from future opponents. Read between the lines.

A win is a win, but all things considered, this was the worst played game of the Heupel era. NOT the worst loss (S Carolina, by a mile) but just the worst played game.

I hope the drops, poor throws, and penalties were an aberration, but that might just be who we are as a team with this bunch.
Going to be a long afternoon with Florida.
