Pearl, with the exception of the E8 run put the emphasis on tempo and chaos.

There was not a big emphasis on minimizing mistakes.

If I see good spacing and a shooter or two, I'll enjoy watching them play, regardless of the style. Style keeps being mentioned, but I don't think anyone really knows what to expect, unless they have watched countless hours of Missouri State games.

So, is this what the OP meant by "mud slinging"?

I was a big fan of BP's up tempo and chaos driven teams from an entertainment perspective. They really were fun to watch. Especially the years when we had 2.4 million steals from in bound plays. I do think, though, that those teams were designed to take advantage of undisciplined teams, which don't really exist past the Sweet 16, so that style of play made it difficult to break through the ceiling.

CM has some big shoes to fill after BP, but I'm really excited to see what he can do. He hasn't generated a huge buzz around the program the way BP did at first, but perhaps that hints at him having a tried and true methodical approach to building and coaching teams.

Good luck Coach Martin. We're rooting for you (even us die hard Pearlophiles).

I agree with you. Three years at jerkwater university does not give us a true degree of his ability to coach.
If CCM can't win he will be history along with all the other coaches who preached mistake free and disciplined
basketball. I for one hope he is successful, but, time will tell as it always does. Expectations will be high following
Pearl and we just haven't seen enough of Martin's ability
to make a judgement call accurately. The list is long for
coaches who were mediocre at small colleges and just couldn't get the job done in major conferences. We have to give him a little time to see if he is a winner or not. Anything else is just pure speculation.

I agree completely about Pearl's style of play and the NCAA tournament. The way his teams play is exciting but anything past the sweet 16 is a fluke or just a really good matchup/draw. That exciting level of play might beat a couple of good teams but it doesn't matter if you don't have discipline or can run a half way decent half court offense.

Not only that, but if anyone thinks pearl's last two teams were "exciting", the he or she is easily entertained.

Oh, I had forgot about the final four talent Pearl inherited
when he got here. I was thinkling Buzz only won 14 games the year before and the teams he beat were mostly give me's that everyone schedules to improve their won/loss numbers. We have talent on this team so
let's see if Martin can coach it. I hope he can.

Yea, we're bring back almost 10 pts per game from last season. No excuse at all for Martin not to have a top 25 team.
