1. Life generally gives you exactly what you deserve. Act like some paragon of virtue while lying to your governing body and you end up giving a Swaggartesque mea culpa for the whole world to see.
2. I wonder who was monitoring Steve Forbes' phone calls and texts? They failed as miserably as his proposed internet monitor.
3. I'm amazed that so many people never learned the lesson of Watergate. It's not the crime, it's the coverup that gets you.
4. This is what happens when you have incompetent yes men instead of solid old pros as assistants. Nobody on that staff has the resume or the guts to say "Hey boss, this isn't a great idea."
5. Somewhere in Chicago, Jimmy Collins is having a good laugh. I'd say Deon Thomas is chuckling, too.
6. I'm not sure why UT thinks financial penalties will appease the 'AA. All those do is save the institution money.
7. I feel bad for the optimistic folks who naively believed in Pearl. I'm laughing at all the know nothings who claimed they were sure Pearl was pure as driven snow.
8. This will certainly be cause for celebration when the Big East coaches congregate in New York for Media Days. Lots of guys in that league get the satisfaction of having what they've always said about Pearl confirmed.
9. No real off campus recruiting for the better part of a year is a substantial penalty. I just don't see the 'AA deeming that to be enough.
10. Contrary to what most people probably think, I'm not happy about this. What's bad for Bruce Pearl is bad for UT.

I agree with #6. Not recruiting off campus also saves money. There's also justification for not giving a raise for a while regardless of on-court performance. NCAA might thrown in scholarship reductions.

Answer is maybe. Lying to the NCAA is hugely retarded. Do you want a mentally challenged person leading us?

Hat, do you think there is any chance of a postseason ban coming from this? I saw some posts saying that some of the radio guys were talking as if this is a possibility.

It's guys like you who will be jealous of the those who do. The hatvol groupies are becoming extremely annoying.

With that said, I agree with hat this time.

See my remarks if interested under Pearl has my support topic.

Hat you nailed it a long time ago on Pearl.

Agreed no one is happy about this but it can and very well may get worse.

Those glass houses will bury your @ss every time. I've enjoyed Pearl's tenure, but the initial cover-up makes the NCAA even more apt to check every iota of evidence.

Look, Pearl's an idiot for lying. We all know that and he deserves to be penalized. But it shouldn't take away from his accomplishments as a UT basketball coach. The way some of you are tossing him aside like trash is appalling.
