My Thoughts On The Day.

Some pretty intense shoe talk up in this mofo. If you see me rollin', I'm usually rockin' a twelve dollar pair of flippies. But, when I dress it up a little, it's generally j&m for jt5. I'm not quite boss enough to drop a stack on a pair of kicks.

6. I'm not sure why UT thinks financial penalties will appease the 'AA. All those do is save the institution money.

I don't know if it will fly or not. It's an interesting concept to punish the coach, and not the program. I can't really think of a self-imposed penalty quite like this.

Are there any other examples out there?

I think the punishment should fall primarily on the coach, and not on the fans and the program. Let the wrongdoer suffer the most.

That said, you all are certainly being a little hard on yourselves and Pearl. I don't care what the punishment is from the NCAA. The contact rules are a little silly, and in the great moral scheme of things, this is nothing but a little boo boo. Come on, this is like speeding. Using burner phones to call recruits is actually very amusing. Lying to the NCAA about it? Well, what else would a normal person do but make that second boo boo?

I hope Pearl does coach at TN for the rest of his life. He's a great foe. He's very competitive and makes it all more fun. He was a lying, cheating, dirty rotten SOB that deserved to rot in a maggot-infested he** before this happened, and nothing has changed. grin.

He**, I hope to see him doing some Verizon commercials soon!

Just move on from this, nobody cares that much, and it certainly does not reflect on fans personally.

All coaches have clauses in their contracts that have penalties for the commission of major NCAA infractions. That's why Cal is always adamant about pushing the 'AA to issue findings he is not personally responsible when his episodes blow up. Hamilton is trying to act as if UT not waiting to dock Bruce's pay is some bold step. It's actually just expediting the inevitable.

Why should the NCAA care about a financial penalty to Bruce Pearl? He's no more than an employee of the member institution, the entity ultimately responsible for adhering to the rules.

Look, Pearl's an idiot for lying. We all know that and he deserves to be penalized. But it shouldn't take away from his accomplishments as a UT basketball coach. The way some of you are tossing him aside like trash is appalling.

who knows what other rules he has broken to get us where we are?

I continue to be amazed at how everybody sees it necessary to either agree or disagree with a faceless message board hero.

I have to agree with the new guy here!

I think its funny how one of the first topics created after this came out yesterday was "What are your thoughts Hat?" - It was later deleted by Mods.

I'm gonna create a thread stating "My thoughts of the day" every single day. :)

Anyone who wonders how important having a strong, competent university president is to each and every aspect of a school's operation needs only look at the havoc the lack of one is wreaking across the board in Knoxville.

This.

Im not sure this will be the end of Hamilton until UT has a strong president.

How is Kiffin responsible for an investigation into the basketball team that began in April '09? Can't wait to see the "data" on that.

No, I realized it was the other LoI too late. The recent one has been most on my mind.

Buzz would be one of our only candidates if we fired Pearl before the NCAA released its findings.

Some of the people on here I hope are 13 years old, because otherwise their ignorance is inexcusable.

Everytime I think you finally bottomed out, you find a way to get dumber

Unfortunately, the school almost always gets hit harder than the coach. If this is as far as it goes, we just take our medicine and go on. Maybe no NCAA tournement for a year, maybe the loss of 2 - 4 scholarships. Will obviously hurt recruiting during the early signing period this year since conclusion isn't until the end of December. The real heavy self-penalty is no off-campus recruiting for one year for Peral and Forbes, plus 9 months Jones. Ironic, means the use of phone calls will be even more important for the next year.
