Mystery silent QB commit? (merged)

I'm seeing a lot of people on this site who have far tooooo much time on their hands... I bet they stay in a state of disappointed all the time...:)

Realism isn't allowed on this site, Larry. You start to speak with a realistic perspective and all of a sudden you're a "Debbie Downer." :)

I said that because you are. There's nothing out unrealistic about the staff having something up their sleeve. Note, I'm not saying Barkley...that is unrealistic.

I never once said that was unrealistic. When the coaches refer to something twice in public, I would say there is something to it. What that something is we cannot possibly know for certain. I'm not sure how that statement can be mistaken for anything other than realism.

I honestly think Bryce Brown and Janzen Jackson could haunt this staff this recruiting season. I now personally think they can land anyone. What the reality is, is we have to win games to get a good QB recruit. Given our starting QB, it is becoming apparent that we recruited to our strengths last year. We will run the ball alot and play solid defense. I know it is Tennessee, but when you are recruiting in league that has four coaches that have won national titles, and going after the same recruits as the USC's of the world, we still have to prove some things.

Very true. This is a tough, tough conference and -- don't look -- but the historical doormats of the conference are suddenly playing the best ball that they ever have and we are having downtime.

Pulling one or two guys away from the top schools isn't enough in this league. If we continue to come in behind Florida and UGA in the recruiting wars then we will continue to struggle to beat those two teams on any sort of consistent basis. I have hopes that we will get there, but we certainly haven't yet.

Top 10 classes are nice, but our competition is pulling in top 3 and 5 classes EVERY year.

Given the vagueness of recruiting scoring and the other variable involved in creating a successful program/season the top 10 or positions could probably be considered pretty even.

Sab, I agree with you to an extent, but everyone remembers what Utah did to Bama last year. My point was more to landing a big name qb than overall depth of the recruiting class.

Bama beat us. That's what I remember. Their slaughter at the hands of Utah doesn't lessen that sting in my mind.

All is not lost. We have THE DEFENSE and a solid running game. Our linemen may actually be able to block someone since the scheme is a lot less complicated. Maybe Crompton or Stephens don't get their a** knocked off, and can complete a higher percentages of passes.

Please don't let Crompton bounce passes.:crossfingers:

yeah im thinkin it could be heaps or rettig (possibly a soft silent) i still think its a qb bcuz i havent heard anything about bray lately and when that was first brought up everyone was talking about it and u would think that it would keep going i definately think its a qb that is already a solid verbal somewhere else but still has very high intrest in us

OMG, A soft silent....can a player be any LESS committed?
