Mystery silent QB commit? (merged)

I believe we are close to turning a player who is committed to another SEC team, but he is not a QB prospect. This may be where the "silent commit" rumor started...

All I can say is why would Kiffin tell a bold face lie about this. If he infact did say that, why shouldnt we believe him. I mean he has no fans he needs to impress, we are already 100 percent on his side. Why would he feel like he needs to lie about something.

And just like the guy said, he was just likethis about JJ. If this is true then VN is just going to explode.

It is my belief that there are 2 different rumors out there and we are getting them confused. There is the Kiffin/Cregg/Big Fish rumor and then there is the Silent Commit rumor. I do not think they are referring to the same thing jmo...

So who do you think the coaches are referring to? A big time recruit thats already committed elsewhere? What position do you think it is?

Youd think it has to be someone that was atleast somewhat interested in us before committing...right?

yeah im thinkin it could be heaps or rettig (possibly a soft silent) i still think its a qb bcuz i havent heard anything about bray lately and when that was first brought up everyone was talking about it and u would think that it would keep going i definately think its a qb that is already a solid verbal somewhere else but still has very high intrest in us

the reason it could be heaps is because he didnt make his commitment to byu on a national stage like scroggins did and u would think that a high caliber qb like him would especially bcuz it was to byu u would think he would make it very public to help out in recruting also i have noticed hardly any of the wrs have offers from byu or have any intrest u would think right when possibly the best qb in the country commits then alot of top caliber wideouts would show alot of interset to byu another reason is he didnt wait a long time to commit to byu u would think he would want to take time to make sure his commitment there was what he really wanted bcuz their program isnt very steady JMO

Heaps did make his commitment on the national stage. They had a press conference. At the same press conference, WR Ross Apo decommitted from Texas and commited to BYU. There was another guy who commited to BYU with them as well...

Heaps isn't going anywhere...

Well you got any ideas LV?

I think it very well could be Barkley, as someone posted earlier in this thread..........they said we have a big fish right after the scroggins announcement. Maybe Barkley took this as an opportunity to go start somewhere from day one. Im guessing he saw the level of talent on USCs qb roster that is there and that is committing and knows he has a better chance at UT. Besides, i heard that he hasnt won the starting job 100% at USC.

I can see how everyone would think it is Barkley. The fact of the matter is he knew last year what the situation would be here at UT. I know Kiffin had to of approached him last year. He was a solid SC lock, and did not hesitate to enroll early. Now apparently Corp is the heir apparent, but I doubt Scroggins would have anything to do with Barkley wanting to transfer. At best Barkley will have two years to start at SC as long as there isn't a big time recruit brought in next year that could possibly beat him out. This could be a Jevin Snead situation.

As you can see I made points for both sides of the argument>

omg guys...get over Barkley

he isn't coming... its laughable

I'm seeing a lot of people on this site who have far tooooo much time on their hands... I bet they stay in a state of disappointed all the time...:)
