i've got MotoGP tickets for Indy in September. i am really looking forward to it.

Maybe I'll see you there, my wife and I will be there. We had tix, room booked, everything but airfare taken care of last year for Laguna Seca but something came up at the last minute and we wern't able to go. We go to Road Atlanta and Barber every year and have went to Mid-Ohio and VIR a couple times.

Met Colin Edwards once at a track day at Jennings GP, got some autographs, pics and got to see him get drunk off his ass. He's great guy a was a lot of fun to hang with.

How do you say a guy who dominated the season last year is on the downhill?

Jeff Gordon is not the driver he once was. Alot of his success now is due to equipment. All of their cars are running well and in contention almost every week. Back when they only had 3 cars (24 Jeff, 5 Terry, 25 Joe N- Jerry N) He was the only one winning on a consistant basis. He was out performing his equipment and a dominate driver then, not so much now.

Nothing wrong with gordon. The competition has just gotten stiffer.

Nobody said there was anything wrong with Gordon. If you looked above I have him on my top 5 list. I just believe he relys more on his equipment than he did 5-10 years ago.:salute::)

Interesting, when Gordon first started winning so many races and championships, most of his detractors said he did it with superior equipment.

How many wins did the 5 or the 25 have during the period Jeff won his 4 championships. Not many- Terry won some and he did win a championship in 96( I think).
Most people dissed Jeff becouse he was considered an "outsider" (kinda like JPM and the rest of the open wheel guys today).

One of my all time favorites, got to meet him once at Mid-Ohio at the Lumbermans 500, and at Bristol in the press box after he won the race. Sure is short. One of the most naturally talented drivers, could win at Bristol, Darlington and Watkins Glenn. I've always used those three tracks as a measure of drivers talent.

I dissed Jeff because of his horrible mustache.

If you consistently race well at the Glenn and Bristol, you hold a special ranking to me as well.

i'd start a list with the active past champions and go from there, strictly in NASACR.

Very interesting thread, and some pretty good choices. Here's my 2 cents.

1. Tony Stewart
2. Kyle Busch
3. Jeff Gordon
4. Juan Montoya
5. Robby Gordon

Those are my top 5. I based these guys off the fact they have dominated in other arenas. Tony has victories in Nascar, IRL, who knows what else. Kyle is just good, period. Juan has victories in IRL, F1, Nascar. Robby Gordon has victories in Nascar, CART, dominated off-road competitions. All these guys are tremendous drivers.

Other drivers are good, these are just my picks.
