NASCAR bans the confederate flag

Everybody needs to pump the brakes here. If you start going after the guy without knowing the full facts of the situation then that’s going to make people no better than the media members who didn’t do their due diligence in the first place.
If this was staged and he was aware it will come out and it will be a terrible look and he will lose his ride among other possible legal penalties.

The dude pulled the race card weeks ago over something that has nothing to actually do with his performance or anything else. He’s a less than mediocre driver and this is how he will ever be relevant....if that’s what you wanna call it.

So he was pretty damn successful in Xfinity and he’s continually run up front with middle of the field equipment and average crew. I’d say hes done fine thus far.

I gotta admit that I’m not really that informed on NASCAR these days. If he did try and play everybody on this, it would be one of the dumbest stunts I’ve ever heard, especially after the Jussie stuff.

Will be interesting to hear his response to this.
If he has a brain he’ll announce dismissing the team member.... because they didn’t know the difference between a noose and a hand pull.and blame the team member’s lack of tool knowledge for his inability to finish higher

I agree with others that it’s not a good look for BW. I don’t take any pleasure in saying it, but it’s true.

He didn’t ask what it looked like? Where it was? What it was attached to? He just thought, “damn, a noose??”

IF it was indeed a garage pull, I also think it’s strange that anyone who is allowed access to the facilities didn’t recognize what it was.

I am still leaning toward hoax status here.

Is that factual? 😳

Julius Erving was a Busch team owner and I think they appointed him diversity champion?
Absolutely ND 40. Willie T Ribbs . I am not a huge NASCAR fan although I did Watch quite a few races it in the mid 90s to early 2000s.

I believe that there may even be a Netflix documentary about Mr . Ribbs

I wouldn't go that far.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt that he was told a noose was found in his garage. His reaction to that is as expected. Now he knows it was a misunderstanding I'd expect acknowledgement of that and an expression of relief that he was indeed not the victim of a hate crime.

Did he have a single win in xfinity? I’m not rooting against the guy or at least wasn’t until recently. I’d say someone like Ricky Stenhouse Jr is a middle of the pack racer (at least in the cup series) and he’s been exponentially more successful at every level than Bubba. I’m surprised he hasn’t called his own name, or nickname, racist.

I though Richard Pryor was in NASCAR before Ribbs.

Seriously though, there is a doc on Ribbs on one of the streaming services.

I had to look up his record. He drove the 6 Roush Ford and no wins but 35 top tens in 85 starts. He was solid and was with Roush after their peak I watched him race several times live mostly at Bristol. He normally wears a UT hat and for his announcement song at Bristol I remember him coming out to Rocky Top once. He’s ok in my book.

Stenhouse had better equipment and did mostly less with it than Wallace did at Cup level. I think you need to see Wallace in a better car to have a good gauge. Look at Matt Dibenitto for a similar driver to Wallace. He’s now in the Quicklane 21 and running well and will win a race soon. Wallace doesn’t have the same level of equipment in the Petty Chevy I think.

Yep.

I gotta wonder too if the over reaction by NASCAR is somewhat related to Kyle Larson being a verbal dumbass earlier this year when he lost his ride for being stupid on the radio during the eRacng crap.

In the current environment right now, this pops up and they’re like “oh **** FFS not right now!”

He was on twitter about this several times and nothing since it came out to be nothing to it. He was of course on the view then the way he acted yesterday pretending to tear up and all. He played the Hollywood victim part well. He thought he was going to get to one up the likes of kap and baby bron bron.
