Nashville Courts UK for basketball game

I haven't heard anyone in Knoxville mention the World's Fair in 10 years, except for the minor media coverage of the 25th anniversary two years ago. That's the difference in the two towns. Knoxvillians are perfectly comfortable with their place in the world. Trashville minions can't stand that even Atlanta gets more respect than them.

As I said, stupid people everywhere. You must have met a good bit of them while visiting. And why would Atlanta not get more respect? Its about 4 times bigger, growing faster, and has the busiest airport in the Nation. Hell, Charlotte gets more respect than Nashville. That doesn't make the city worthless, or all of its people ignorant, mullet growing imbeciles.

The same can be said for Knoxville pretending the 1982 World's Fair meant something.

Actually, a lot of people I know who were around back in the day didn't really care one way or the other if there was a World's Fair or not here.

Read it in context. It was written in response to hat saying people in Nashville care that a lot of musicians move or live there. I was comparing the two. People in both cities over-exaggerate the importance of both.

You've done this before and you didn't get anywhere with it. You're trying to pass off the country music industry as something that Nashville "made up".

Yeah, support for the Predators is overwhelming.

Considering barely anyone in the city had ever seen a hockey game before, 13,000 season ticket holders in a 17,000 seat arena is pretty good. The Preds have toughed it out and gained a solid foothold in Nashville. They have cut a profit the last 3 years.

I always get exactly where I'm going with it every time I use it. Nashvillians like to think the rest of the world sees them as a cultured city. In reality, people in real cities hear "Nashville" and think "Bible Belt and Banjos." The facts never change. Since you're back, babble some more about what a great draw UT basketball is in Mullet City.

Just when I thought we were getting somewhere... haha

I know many people see Nashville that way but it's not accurate. It would be the same as me assuming everyone that lives in Vegas has a gambling problem. Country music does play a big role in Nashville but a lot of the cowboy boot and hat wearing crowd roaming around Broadway are tourists from other states.

Without whose continual flow into Mullet City Nashville would be on par with Frankfort, KY.

You might be right, I don't know. I don't go downtown much anyways. I don't like the image either and I agree that it's there. I just think that it sucks for all of us that live here to be lumped into a group of hillbillies.

I will take up for Nashville. The city definately doesnt suck.
As for UT basketball fans here, they are few and far between. UT football rules here with the Titans being a close second. UK basketball probably has more fans here than Vanderbilt basketball with UT basketball being a distant third.
Pick just about any mid-major school and have them play in Nashville vs UT and that game wouldnt draw as much as Belmont vs Lipscomb.

I'm not sure I quite agree with that. Maybe it depends on the year but I've seen UT fans take over Memorial Gym in the recent past. Not to mention Vandy barely got 1000 fans to last year's USF game at Sommet.

1000? Some of them must have been wearing orange.

1. Nashville most certainly sucks.
2. The rest of your post explains exactly why it is a waste of time for Tennessee to play a nonconference game in Mullet City.

I have seen many more mullets in Knoxville.

I don't think hat is trying to dispute that Knoxville has rednecks. He's saying at least Knoxville knows what it is and that Nashville thinks it's a lot more than it actually is.

I don't totally agree but at the same time, it's pretty well known that Nashville is known for country music and that's about it. Watch NFL broadcasts, the network send their D team announcers who still call them the Oilers.

To think that there is a collective thought in ANY city about what that city is, is absurd. The fact remains that Williamson County is one of the top per capita income and medium household incomes in the country and Nashville is where that money is spent.

Nashville is also one of the safest cities and best places to raise a family it has been stated recently. Not to mention the Nashville economy is still one of the steadier ones in the South along with Birmingham.

I recall Nashville being named #9 on the most dangerous cities in the nation.

Don't get it twisted, I have nothing against Nashville. I'm just trying to create some conversation.

Too busy to read the whole thread, but simply it's about money. UK fans bring it.

This is very true. Last SEC championship in Nashville it felt like 80% of the building was big blue. They certainly travel well. Not to mention, quite a few big blue fans in Nashville.

Just like they renamed Atlanta "Cat-lanta". We travel like crazy.

And when you think about it its kinda funny, seeing as how on the grand scale of things Kentucky is not a rich state, its wages and poverty level is quite low compared to alot of the states.

However thats the passion of the Kentucky fan. Most will sell their car or firstborn to finance a trip to the tourney. lol

And everyone, don't be hatin' on the mullet. it just MIGHT make a comeback. If Calipari were to grow a mullet, you would immediately see 2,000,000 follow. :)

The city of Birmingham is on the verge of bankruptcy. Do you just make things up randomly or is there a method to your fabrications?
