The fact remains that Williamson County is one of the top per capita income and medium household incomes in the country and Nashville is where that money is spent.
A redneck with money is still a redneck.

Yeah, there are eight whole cities that have more per capita violent crime.

Actually, Nashville would be higher on that list if not for the inexplicable inclusion of Murfreesboro and Franklin in the calculation of those violent crime statistics.

Franklin and Brentwood are no where NEAR redneck. You have some out near Fairview and Nolensville, but that is it. I find it ironic that there is a blanketing of Williamson County as rednecks coming from people in Knoxville.

The only rednecks in Franklin and Brentwood are the ones like me that work there.

I have seen many more mullets in Knoxville.

I've wondered about that too. Knoxville seems much more redneck than Nashville is. Hell, the reason we talk about how there are so few Tennessee fans in Nashville is because of the number of imports this city has--making it somewhat less redneck than the more homogenous surrounding area. Sure, Knoxville is more likely to admit that it is redneck, but that's at least partly because it is more redneck. I agree that the whole "Athens of the South" stuff (and Vanderbilt as the "Harvard of the South," which I haven't heard much but have heard before) is complete crap, but calling Nashville "Mullet City" from Knoxville seems more than a little ironic to me.

Considering barely anyone in the city had ever seen a hockey game before, 13,000 season ticket holders in a 17,000 seat arena is pretty good. The Preds have toughed it out and gained a solid foothold in Nashville. They have cut a profit the last 3 years.

The Predators have nowhere close to a strong fanbase. You and I both know that they were about as close as a team can get to leaving without actually doing it.

And I find it rather laughable that you think Predators hockey has more support here than UT football does.

The Titans are first here easily...

I think it is close but UT football is still #1. Titans may carry the headlines a bit more, but it is because it is the local NFL team.
If Jeff Fisher were fired around the same time Fulmer was, there would be more interest in the Fulmer firing.

This.
The Titans are big, IF they are winning.

Ain't that the truth. It's not like I would want to see the Preds move. I wouldn't, and I've grown to like the team in recent years. But the Predators are most likely going to move to Hamilton, ON, or some other mid-size Canadian city.

To think that there is a collective thought in ANY city about what that city is, is absurd. The fact remains that Williamson County is one of the top per capita income and medium household incomes in the country and Nashville is where that money is spent.

median?

Yeah, its kind of hard to say. I have season tickets and drive down to the Titans games from Bowling Green. I do see ALOT of people tailgating with their UT gear on, before the game. However there are quite a few Vandy fans obviously mixed in there as well.

Its too close to call I guess, but I seem to think that the Titans hold a slight edge in Nashville Metro. IMO.

I don't think they will be moving now. Jim Balsillie, the CEO of RIM, that makes Blackberry phones has targeted the Phoenix Coyotes but I'm not even sure he will get them either.

Bettman and the NHL Board of Trustees will never let him own a team.

And Hat why don't you tell us what your hometown is so we can harp on it?

Hat has moved his residence to Hell.

Like if someone tells you to go to hell, they are actually sending you to go see Hat.

Oddly enough, it was voted a top 10 safest city along with a booming economy.

I disagree...the Titans have definitely taken over.

UT couldn't even fill up LP Field when UT and Vandy played there 2 times earlier in the decade, and the 2002 game wouldn't have filled up Vanderbilt Stadium.

Well, you did say Williamson County, and there is a lot more to Williamson County than Franklin and Brentwood. There are plenty of rednecks outside those areas.

I've got to agree, Nashville blows.

so no love for Nashville, huh? It's a heck of a lot better than the town you live in. A one street town supported only by a university.

Knoxville has more crime and trash than all of east tennessee put together. Not to mention it smells like dead fish and rotten eggs when it rains.

The night life is quite pathetic. I hope you enjoy the same place every night...people in Knoxville sure don't know how to mix it up, and the strip has seen better days....not sure when, but it is sinking into a deep pit.

Four years of college is all that needs to be spent in k-town. The lucky few who don't get sucked into the city move far away to only come back in the fall. Knoxville is a drag of a town and it will only bring you down and success is not to be found for most.

Considering more than 75% of the population lives in Franklin and Brentwood.

Damn big money, no love for K-Town to be found?

Oh well, I'm leaving for college anyways, so I'm not all that offended.
