Nashville Restaurants

Ate at a place called Slim & Husky's the other day, pretty damn good pizzas. On Buchanan Street, so you can see that there are some parts of Nashville that haven't been gentrified yet.

The wife went there with some people from work. She said the same thing

Where's Buchanan?

Been to Slim and Huskys a few times now, great pizza. Love how I can stack a ton of meat and veggies on it and still pay the same price. Their spicy red sauce is fantastic.

I got half spicy and half white and was impressed with both.

Levant Cafe over by Belmont... Holy **** that was bad. Hummus was without a doubt the worst I've ever had, and the "schwarma" was just chunks of under seasoned, dry, beef on top of dried out basmati.

I don't know what's happened over there. It was a Kalamata's, which is a good local chain. They didn't make it in that location. It's had at least two different names since then, all serving "Greek" food. Other than International Market, which has been there forever, I think the lower priced places that don't serve a lot of booze struggle when Belmont is out.

I don't know if anyone mentioned McCabe's Pub in Sylvan Park. It's been around and has solid food.

I know this is a Nashville restaurant thread but I ate the Pharmacy because that's all I had heard about from friends and it was nothing compared to the burgers at Jumbo and Delicious in Hendersonville, TN. A hole in the wall place but unbelievable food.

The Pharmacy is terribly overrated and the hipster vibe will leave you feeling like you need a shower. IMO it doesn't hold a candle to Gabby's or Burger Republic. I moved away from Hendersonville before I got a chance to try Jumbo and Delicious. I'm not too far away so i hope to try it soon.

I do like Gabby's but I guess I'm old school because too me there are really only two options for best burger in town, Browns and Rotiers. It's the same way with hot chicken. You either like Princes or Boltons. If you say Hattie Bs or some other joint is your favorite then (a) you really don't know anything about hot chicken and (b) you haven't been here long enough for your opinion to mean anything to anyone other than the other noobs. I'm ready for some other place to be the it city so some of the crowd will clear out and we can start working on assimilating the rest into OUR culture.

Rotier's is decent. Never had Brown's but i hear good things. I love all the hot chicken spots. So i can't really speak on that one. Started eating Prince's as a child and have loved hot chicken ever since.

Brown's is a good burger. Really good prices too.

I went to Tres Gauchos in Mariachi Plaza on Nolensville Rd. My "filet" was just a lot of fat.

Definitely. I don't know why people still hype The Pharmacy. The burgers aren't good at all now.

Here's my favorite in no particular order:

Wendell Smith's Restaurant @ Charlotte Ave & Morrow Rd
Cal's Country Kitchen in Madison
Swett's off of 28th Ave N
International Market on Belmont Blvd

Any of these 4 could probably claim best food AND best value..Very reasonably priced

Get off your lawn, right?

I'll be honest. I'm living in a town within a town. Most of the people in my circle of friends are people I grew up with. I eat at mostly the same places I went to 20+ years ago when I go out. Maybe I'm missing out on some neat new things but outside of the increasingly horrible traffic and infill development I can still imagine that I am in the town that I was raised in. Also, I have a fence and a gate so the lawn is safe.

Hattie B's is better than Bolton's IMO.

Princes is fantastic, but Hattie B's is much quicker and easier to get to.

Plus Hattie B's has them both beat on sides.

Most definitely on the sides part. Boltons wasn't horrible but it didn't even come close to Princes or Hattie Bs for me. Princes I always thought was the best but I rarely went because I hated going to that run down excuse of a building. I do want to go eat at their new location now, though. Hattie Bs is just much easier to get in and out of so it's my go to.

I can't remember if I've posted it in here, but Anatolia on White Bridge is very good. It's a Turkish Restaurant in Lions Head Plaza. I think I'm gonna grab some dinner from there before I head back towards the house later.

Ate there and thought the same thing about my brisket. Flavor was alright but was like 50% fat.

El Tapatio on Nolensville Rd. Best authentic tacos in the city. They have two locations on Nolensville Rd. You can get six chorizo tacos and Negra Modelo for $11. That's hard to beat.
