National Average Price of Gasoline Hits an All-Time High

I don't know what happened in the last 24 hours, but now regular unleaded is the same price as diesel @ $5.40 outside of Chicago.

I think it‘s sold in the commodity market like everything else so whatever a barrel is going for.
so they buy it at say $80 a barrel and sell it for $115 or so under the guise of lowering oil prices when in the grand scheme of things will not be a drop in the bucket to balancing out supply and demand. Hope we really don't need that oil one day.

I still believe the commodities market is as crooked as it gets - rampant speculation at our expense. Buyers should have a part in the process and be expected to take deliver of the commodity they buy - no intermediate parties buying and selling without adding to the finished product.

Talked to my neighbor this morning while I was walking the pup... he owns a truck freight company, they have 600 trucks at 150 gal/day at $5.10 a gallon that haul Nissans from the factories to the dealers. Nissan payed some extra for fuel last month but he said they could not pay any more... Nissan is down to 5500 vehicles a week from a capacity of about 12000 and that is not due to parts scarcity, it is due to lack of sales.

It’s a perfect economic storm coming that will happen before the elections. Something really bad is going to happen. Glen Beck keeps saying that he thinks that Biden will enact emergency powers once the economic crisis happens which will lead to civil unrest. I think he’s probably correct.

Glen Beck has been predicting stupid shat like that for over 20 years

I remember something similar prior to 2016 elections and BHOs third term conversations. It’s all speculation at this point.

I don't buy the refining capacity argument. Not a single gas station is running out of gas. If it were a capacity issue we would be seeing supply issues.

Pretty much every commodities trader and publicly traded refinery company that has announced earnings disagrees with you. No offense, I will believe them. It's not a supply issue as much as refiners are burdened with higher costs from being stuck with inefficient processes and inefficient investment due to government/EPA overreach. When refiners can't make investments to ship their product more efficiently and cheaply, who do you think pays? It's why gas prices have continued to go up while oil is more than 10% off its 52w high.

Just noticed that Biden is releasing one million barrels of oil a day thru the month of June. Anyone have any idea how much the Federal Government is charging for that oil?

If this is the case then this is so stupid it is difficult to comprehend. We've seen it almost has no impact but it undermines our national security. They are making this dumb idea common. They repeatedly show they might be trying to put us in a position of weakness. Is the enemy running our government?

I stopped at Kroger over the weekend to get gas one night and all the pumps were out. I don't know why, but I had to go down the street to the next station.
