I’m pious for pointing out the naivety of excusing the oil industry from holding us hostage again, and again, and again? I’m tired of them, they have shaped the landscape of politics, economics, anthropology, and ecology for at least 80 years. Oil has had it’s day in the sun, good riddance. The sooner, the better.Nobody was saying this is your fault. We were all calling you out on your pious ********

No you’re pious by spewing that dumbass last line on ridding the world of the petroleum (and doubling down with this stupid post) industry that about five of us have quoted and been dunking on you on. You go first genius. Eliminate them from your life.I’m pious for pointing out the naivety of excusing the oil industry from holding us hostage again, and again, and again? The post of mine you replied to refuted the notion of refineries at max levels. I don't mind a company providing a good in exchange for money. I mind when the government makes it harder and more expensive.Pointing at individuals and saying “this is your fault” while Exxon et al laugh all the way to the bank is a very poorly thought-out position. Nobody alive is at fault for our reliance on ff. It’s just a part of our history good, bad, or indifferent… but to act like the sole party with a responsibility to act with a conscience should be individual consumers with solar panels is incredibly naive.

Send everyone in America with a car a 2 year supply of lube because we are all about to get f’d hard. What you see now isn’t even the beginning. Prices across the board are going to skyrocket. Food, clothes, drugs, construction. Everyone one of these require shipment and that means gas.
I think we are about to see the middle class get wiped out.
My reply points out what the interest of those companies are, and it is not increasing supply. So, again, I’ll say you’re missing 50% of the equation. The post of mine you replied to refuted the notion of refineries at max levels. I don't mind a company providing a good in exchange for money. Pardoning big oil as “the fox”, like they are not made up of humans getting crazy fat while the world suffers, is very soft. The government is giving them an excuse for their actions. Blame the government for setting the stage for us being held hostage. You wouldn’t blame the fox for raiding your henhouse when you left the gate open would you?
This isn't difficult. Those companies would have no problem investing in increasing production if they were confident that their investment would not be regulated to the trash heap. One party loves to piss all over the oil companies and then act surprised when costs at the pump go up. It's ignorance at best and arrogance at worse. The companies job is to increase shareholder value. That is it. If they thought they could set that up long term by increasing production etc. they would do so on a heart beat. All of those executives like to guarantee future bonuses as well. Then we have the same side that bemoans them act like they are rich fat cats who own them. There owners are institutional investors. For example I believe the the largest owner of Exxon is Vanguard. “ExxonMobil (XOM) last month announced first quarter profits of $8.8 billion, more than triple the level of a year ago when excluding special items. It also announced a $30 billion share repurchase plan, far more than the $21 billion to $24 billion it expects to spend on all capital investment, including searching for new oil."
2020:
Biden: I’m going to end fossil fuel
Democrats: cheering and chanting put them out of business
2021:
Biden: shuts down XL pipeline and oil land leases. Allows Russia to operate Nord Stream 2 pipeline
Democrats: cheering
2022:
Russia: uses funds from sales of oil and natural gas to fund war in Ukraine.
Gas prices: $5.00 dollars and climbing
Biden: gives Ukraine billions of dollars and blames gas prices on Putin
Democrats: it’s all Putin’s fault. The oil companies are racking in record profits and not reinvesting all these profits in searching for new oil
Oil companies: I better save all this money before Biden and the democrats put us out of business
81 million of the most (alleged) educated people in America voted for this sh$t show.
The whole party has actively talked about killing big oil for years. Now they have the gall to act like those companies should be more invested in increasing production. What damn world are these people living in? If they could have done it they would have used that investment to kill them off sooner. The man said it...yet many are in such denial.
