National title game thread

Anyone amazed at how little this seems like a Kansas victory, and much much moreso like a Memphis Loss?

I don't care for Cal, but what do want him to say as he's asked 400 times per day?

How's this, "well, I tell the guys they suck and FTs are sure to be their doom, so we're considering folding the tents for the season."

I'd go with "There's no excuse for our poor FT shooting, and it's something we're working every day on." Not some smart remark. De-emphasizing FTs is as bad as not playing defense.

Thank you Kansas....can't wait to rub this in to the UNC fans at school. They told me Kansas wouldn't make it past the Elite 8 hahahaha

Cal also said something to the effect of, "If we rebound, defend, and do all the other things well, FT shooting won't matter."

Had somebody laid a hand on Chalmers, it wouldn't have mattered (or fouling Collins as he brought it up the court).

For the first time ever, I have won every bracket I have entered... Two bad I didn't join any bigger pools. That was a crazy game.

So the better team played the better game, lost, and it also wasn't the coaches fault. You the Memphis PR department?

The better team did play the better game and lost. and no it wasn't the coaches' fault. IT was the stretch of 4 missed FT's in a row that lost it. Last time I checked, Cal didn't shoot one of those.

why would you assume something retarded like he de-emphasizes them? just because he's unwilling to say what frickin' Bilas wants to hear doesn't mean anything about how he handles his team and its practice.

They won. Free throws are part of the game.

Congrats to Kansas. Free throw shooting finally bit the Tigers in the ass like everybody kept saying even thought they were shooting high seventies for the tournament.

Rose did foul Collins when he brought it up. The only foul they didnt call on Memphis was the one they needed to.
In a situation like that, you have to be emphatic enough so the refs have no choice but to call it.

I didn't see anything that looked like a foul on Kansas' last possession, myself.

Hell, he pushed him down. Not emphatic enough? But they can call a phantom trip on CDR? or Dorsey for a slight hand check that fouled im out?

I'm sorry that I've gotten your panties in a wad here, but I don't find it hard to believe that he would tell ESPN exactly what he'd tell his kids. If not, he's a hypocrite. You can't tell the national media that something isn't important, and then say "oh yeah, it is" behind closed doors. THAT is what is dumb. There is no benefit. You set yourself up for "i told you so." Your team is going to act how you coach them to act, and will model themselves after you. De-emphasizing their FT problems (and in effect the sense of necessity to get better) is stupid. FTs don't get better overnight, and obviously, these guys haven't been working too hard on them.
