Navy Seals Save the Captain

They will stick to non-Americans.

You don't need much of an education to see what bargaining with US captives gets you. Why would any pirate choose that route again? Although I do see there is room for me to be wrong. These pirates were stuck out in a boat with no power or options. Next US captives will be taken to a location we do not know about.
I actually think that pirating is about to get a helluva lot harder.

Dead Somalis on Easter Sunday? I like me some dead Somalis, but the irony of this is delicious...

It looks as though one of the head shots was through a bay window, while the boat was moving up and down a few feet at a time with the waves.

3 'phenomenal shots' ended pirate hostage crisis - CNN.com

I'm glad these SEAL's are on our side.

It also said the shots were from a distance of 75 feet.

incredible, given the circumstances, that it was executed so flawlessly.

I haven't been a huge Obama supporter, but he gave the commanders on the ground the authority to make a command decision, and they did.
Then the shooters executed perfectly..

It's extraordinary to me. Everyone knows what complete badazz's these SEAL's are, yet it is still amazing when one hear's about this stuff. It's probably because there is so little known about their specific exploits and this is a situation that we were all familiar with. A terror, hostage, impending international crisis brewing....and these guys put an end to it with 3 shots.

Like you said, incredible.

economic stimulus- all ships will want to fly (and pay for) a US flag

HA, seriously

and I didnt see this in the gun thread, but NBC news
said last night that they used gyro stabilized guns. Whats that look like? They slowly pulled the boat within 40 yards, so at that range i guess they could have used iron sights

Wow. I wonder if he would have the balls to come out and call Obama a child killer then?

It was 1995, and Barack Obama was diagnosing the American character. His conclusion was not a happy one: too much self-reliance, too much self-determination, too much self-confidence.

“You know,” he continued, “we idolize the John Wayne hero who comes in to correct things with both guns blazing. But individual actions, individual dreams, are not sufficient.” The aspiring young Chicago politician insisted that we needed to temper the American spirit with a socialistic inclination: “We must unite in collective action, build collective institutions and organizations.”

On Easter Sunday 14 years later, Pres. Barack Obama called up John Wayne. The latest episode in the ongoing saga of the Somali pirates had a happy ending for Americans because of the blazing guns of a John Wayne hero, the United States Navy.

I am sure the navy is shaking in their boots.

Well the Somali pirates are holding over 50 merchant ships for ransom presently, if I remember correctly.

They have seized four more ships since the American captain was freed.

Obama and Biden served on the Senate Foreign Affairs subcommittee on African affairs.

When the subcommittee met to discuss the issue of Somalia and piracy over the last three years, both the President and VP were no-shows.

* July 11, 2006 - Somalia: U.S. Government Policy and Challenges

* July 17, 2007 - Democratic Developments in Sub-Saharan Africa - Moving Forwards or Backwards

* August 1, 2007 - Exploring the U.S. Africa Command and a New Strategic Relationship with Africa

* September 27, 2007 - The United Nation’s Convention on the Law of the Sea

* March 11, 2008 - Evaluating U.S. Policy Options on the Horn of Africa

------------------------------

I think the administration will probably use this to try to get the horrible UN LOST (law of the sea treaty) treaty passed and if Franken is seated they will probably have an almost filibuster proof majority and will be passing all sorts of crazy things.

Just more target practice for the "SEALS".

Shortly after Obama's envoy, Richard Holbrooke, visited Pakistan, that country surrendered to the Taliban and al-Qaeda, putting the entire world in danger.

In a shocking abdication of responsibility, the Pakistani government now says the Taliban has the authority to impose sharia law in the northern part of that country. That means the Pakistani government is allowing these terrorists to do whatever they want, and that will include continuing their attacks on American forces in neighboring Afghanistan.
