UNC 247 some quotes from Campbell

"I think some people are probably going to have their minds blown [by my decision]," Campbell said

"I'm really big as an academic student, but also I'm a really big football player," Campbell said. "And I know I'm a great student and a great athlete at the same time and I have confidence in that. And the thing is with that, you can't just put your schoolwork off just to go play football. You know, you want to have both. I think that's what's big for me. You want to have a great degree and I want to have a great experience. When you could have academics and sports also, I think that is a mind-blower for me."

"Especially with me wanting to [major in] business and either accounting and finance, talking to just great people [at UNC] -- talking with 'Miss Jackie' [Fritsch, Associate Director of Admissions for Kenan Flagler Business School], talking with Mack Brown -- and just the many connections with North Carolina, [UNC has the balance I desire]," Campbell said. "With my decision, it's everything: it's the people, it's the culture, it's the families -- it's really just the unit. I see why Carolina really doesn't accept a whole lot of people because it's a close-knit of the people that really think the same."
Hey, if academics and being able to have Mama’s cooking on a weeknight when he feels like it are the most important things for him, more power to him. Is what it is.

Well that sounds like unc…

Though I agree if it’s not about the sciences Tennessees biz school and VFL program make it just as attractive as UNC imo.

From a winning standpoint, it’s a dumb decision.

Their program is a$$ along with their washed up HC.

It’s his decision but not a smart one.

JS.
Maybe, in his life, a degree is more important than the NFL. Either way, he doesn't care about your opinion of his decision. Wish him well, and move on. Let's not call kids dumb, how bout that? 🙄

Where did Jerry Rice play in college? The NFL doesn't give two s***s where you played as long as your good.
Better players generally go to better programs and have better development.

Mack brown also will not be there for all 4 years.

It’s not a good football decision but it sounds like it is the right personal decision for him if he goes there.

All these things can be true.

Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes in here. Kid wants to play close to home, maybe he just wants a college degree and doesn't just have to play in the NFL. Bunch of clowns calling a kid dumb because he wants to be near his family. Gross.
No one called him dumb. I said it was a dumb football decision, which it is.

Hey, these kids are making the biggest decisions of their young lives. Some want to get out and see other things and test their wings, others don't and that's fine. Whatever he decides is not something any of us should have a problem with. What ever he decides I hope it works out for him, seems like a fine young man.

Too much weight is put on the “ranking” of a school. Who cares if UNC is a few spots higher, UT still has an extremely good business school with alumni in senior level positions in many organizations across the globe. You can go to UT and get a very, very good business education if that’s what you are looking for.
Rankings matter, whether one likes it or not.

UT has good business programs. I went to Business School there after undergrad. It has paid dividends multiple times over.

But the paper from UNC is worth more than the paper from UT.

That said - dumb decision, imo. He likely won’t effectively leverage the UNC diploma.

If he chooses UNC over Tennessee, I think that's a very dumb decision.

Good points. Also, he may just want to be closer to his family. But @VolFreakJosh doesn’t subscribe to any of that. If he picks UNC, he was say his usual “see you in the portal” or “we don’t really want him anyway.”

Off topic a bit but I have never heard about Tennessee recruiting in Laurinburg and around that area of North Carolina a lot.

I went to college at St. Andrews University there for a couple of semesters in the late 80's and Tennessee never did have any presence there at that time.

I cant speak to Fayetteville, but, NC has had a very strong economy post 90's. Case in point, a friend of mine sold his business in Raleigh in late 2010's, and retired, at 45.

Strong economic growth, snd job availability has lured many East Tennesseans to Raleigh/Durham. To a lesser extent the Triad.
