No one has made Smith a bigger priority than the Vols. He told GoVols247 in late March that Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt had "called me and told me he was going to personally take over my recruitment," and the Vols have stayed in frequent contact with him since then, led by Pruitt, offensive line coach Will Friend and running backs coach Jay Graham.

Smith grew up liking North Carolina, and nearby N.C. State has remained a legitimate contender for him. But Tennessee has done the best job of recruiting him to this point, and his first visit with the Vols a little more than three months ago made a strong impression on him. The momentum in his recruitment has shifted toward Tennessee over the past few months, and sources close to his recruitment believe the Vols are in the best shape. Right now, I believe Tennessee is in the driver's seat, especially if he announces a decision on Monday.

Tennessee went to Alabama and Florida to get elite linebackers. The Vols went to Georgia for a defensive back, a running back and a wide receiver. They went the JUCO route for the No. 1 running back in the class, too. It would only make sense that Jeremy Pruitt and his staff venture over to North Carolina’s Rockingham County High School to grab an offensive linemen to add to the bunch. Smith tweeted on Sunday that we should stay tuned Monday afternoon and sources have indicated to GoVols247 that this could be another Tennessee lean and give the Vols a staggering eighth commitment in just nine days. It would be another good win for Pruitt and his staff, adding a four-star prospect who at 6-foot-7, 295-pounds has room to grow.

Why is this kid 5.5 on Rivals? Any concerns about the light offer list?

As far as #1 in recruiting, no one is passing Ohio State that has double digit 3 stars many of which were taken early.

No concerns if you trust our coaches, listen to 247 instead of Rivals, or listen to MetalVol and Griddie.

No one is going to pass that Ohio St class but I will still be happy with this class and I trust our staff's evaluation

It would be cool to go ahead and start recruiting 22
