The question I have is if we were mostly just leverage all along…has the feel that the agent was going to do one of two things:

1) pressure us into making ridiculous, unrealistic commitments and promises to David in which case he signs with Tennessee and can get out after one season if he so chooses after he got what he wanted from us

2) uses his commitment to Tennessee and the promises Tennessee did make him to get a little more from the school he wanted to go to all along: Ohio State

If this is in fact the case (maybe it isn’t), the agent and frankly the family as well played us like a fiddle. Recruiting has always been cut throat, but NIL has taken it to a Game of Thrones level of cut throat.

Hope he stays, but I think the model for OL is shifting to portal first, recruiting second. May be true of other positions as well. But the nature of how bigger, heavier kids develop would make it the first position to shift more to a portal model in my opinion.
