Mid westerners in general.are nice and polite. They have more in common with Southern people than east/west coasters

Their ethnic make-up is more German, thus the difference in food. My dad was from Germany and loved going up there to visit all the Hofbrau restaurants
Thank you for this well-researched cultural anthropological assessment of cities in Ohio, cities in Tennessee, and the friendly Germans from a place you call the “Mid West”. I feel safe to leave the house again, and try many kinds of potato salad safely.

I promise when they woke up today, dsj wasn't the first thing on their mind, and won't give it more than a moment of thought either way til after 4pm.

Feel sorry for the seniors who jumped in mirror lake last night, cuz it was cold and up there
We know at least one fan of theirs who checked on his thread and cared enough to comment, so there’s that

Having been all.over Ohio I would probably agree Cleveland is Memphis bad, Dayton also terrible

Cincinnati is fairly nice, has a more 'small city feel' to it and is culturally a bit more of Kentucky north

Columbus in the last ten years has gotten upgraded but it's still a pit mostly.

That being said,.Knoxville is the only city in Tennessee id actually live in. I live near Chattanooga and despise the city. Nashville is ok downtown
Memphis nope.....not a chance. Use it for carpet bombing practice for all I care, or give it to Mississippi. Both states GDP would go up then
Dude, Columbus is great. The Cleveland lakefront is nice. Haven’t spent much time in Cinci. Dayton, however, is…well, it’s Dayton. IYKYK.

What’s your beef with Chatty? Sounds like you’re just uncomfortable in urban areas generally.

A lot of the German food is really good, but way too many restaurants up here don’t know what salt is and think chili powder is spicy.

Curious what you’re comparing it to. I haven’t spent much time around OSU’s campus, but there are quite a few sections of the city I really like. Not sure I would call a city of 2 million people a town.
My dad’s side of the family is from Columbus and most are still there. It’s not a terrible city, but as far as beauty Knoxville is in a perfect setting. You’re gonna think I’m crazy, but Dayton is my favorite city in Ohio lol.
