'25 NC OT David Sanders (Tennessee)

How does a second-rate clinger have enough sway to influence Sanders to sign or not sign if Sanders indeed wants to sign with Tennessee? If it isn't directly from him or his family, I just don't understand the level of influence of someone outside of that circle can have if it is directly against the will of the most important person involved; David, himself.
There is a lot of money that goes into playing football for these families. Just to play high school football in Gwinnett county I was around 1500 a year, I know pretty much everyone got sponsors to help with this . On top of that going to these camps isn’t cheep. I know a certain family spent well over 10k to go to camps for their oldest son… top 5 pick in the nfl. They need the money somehow so they get it upfront.

I keep seeing this point made about how it’s not the family. The family has chosen this person to represent them. Sanders CHOSE to go on the visit. Is the agent / representative negotiating without the consent of the family?? If so that would be grounds for immediate termination in my line of work. It’s absolutely the family that’s doing this because they can put a stop to it at any point they desire. And now it turns out that the story of the signing day with his teammates may be bull****???
They are listening to someone that has much more expertise in contract negotiations. You don't defend yourself in a court case do you? The family members are not experts in this area.

My favorites are the guys on Twitter who put "Alpha Male" in their profiles.

There sure are a lot of Alpha males out there. Which is funny, if you know anything about wolfpacks.

There's one. Just one. And he doesn't advertise it.

Why are you looking at their profiles? 🤷🏻

Perry is ahead of Warren. If Sanders isn’t the RT, it’s probably Perry. In fact, it’s more likely to be LJ3 than Warren, at this point.

And I wouldn’t discount Sham winning the RG spot.
I still think J. Heard will develop into an NFL draft pick. Just a true freshman and raw but if I were making a projected 2027 depth chart, he'd be a starter. If Perry is already ahead of Warren, Warren may enter the portal. Hopefully he has more patience and resolve than that, but more often than not these days that isn't the case. Ideal scenario is that J. Heard or Warren eventually force Perry inside.

You people constantly complain about not recruiting “well enough”. Then when you go after elite talent, and actually have to fight for them, people like you throw their hands up and complain about character.

So which is it? You want Dooley commits that don’t look anywhere? Or do you want elite players? You have to battle for the best talent. You all who constantly get sour grapes over these guys are 10x more pathetic than a kid who flips schools. Some of you aren’t cut out for this.
They just want to complain. Armchair national level coaches throwing their 2 cents. You’re right, we want to be elite, we need elite players.

So why wasn't this done before signing day? I know he is a big time recruit. Lawyers on both sides i would want this done before signing day but not before every T is crossed and every I dotted.

And

No you ****ing dipshit. I don’t defend myself In court. But when my attorney does work on my behalf I don’t claim to not be involved when I take his or her advice. ONCE again for the slow among us. I’m not saying his family shouldn’t make use of an attorney or exercise their rights. I’m saying it’s disingenuous to claim the family isn’t involved. If there’s any other words about my position on this that you don’t understand I’m going to have to refer you to someone else.
Again, you don't understand context. Nobody talking about this situation implies that parents are blind and deaf and have no idea what's going on. That's ignorant. The point being made was that David and his family are not personally shopping him around on their own volition. Fans that don't like these unintended consequences of the current system are free to hate the process. I don't think anyone thinks the process is good the way it currently operates. But it's where we are at right now. The person pulling the strings thinks they have a huge leverage piece and is trying to get maximum value from it. The family could absolutely say thanks but no thanks. They haven't and I don't think you can make any conclusion that it makes them bad people.

I don’t care about the process. The family is complicit in this. Also I apologize for the name calling. That’s on me.

He is a good tackle and will be even better next year.

He was absolutely HORRIFIC against Arkansas, and terrible vs UGA...coincidentally our 2 losses. Graded in the low 40s in both games. I can link a tape breakdown of the Arkansas game where they make jokes about Heard while showing play after play where he never even lays a finger on the guy he is supposed to be blocking if I need to. Its on youtube. He also was a big part of the time management fiasco at the end of the Arkansas game because he was SO incredibly out of shape that he couldnt get his fat butt off the ground and move 20 yards down the field to run the next play...which the other 4 linemen had absolutely no problem doing. Heard has lots of potential being a HS 5* tackle. To say that he IS a good player is complete BS at this point though. Go look at his PFF grades for each game this season. He has not been good. Not at any point. His play has Improved as the season went on though, and he is young. He will probably eventually be a good player. Its not even debatable that he is a good Tackle right now though. Bottom third of the SEC for sure.

Agree with all of this. At the same time, we have added 8 or more highly sought after 4* Offensive linemen in the 23 and 24 classes. If none of those 8 guys are ready to contribute next season (will be 3rd year on the team for the 23 guys) then we actually do have a development problem on the Oline. The 24 class was a monster year for Olinemen. Next season and the 26 season after it will tell the tale about our Oline development. If we are starting portal players at more than 1 spot on that Oline in the 2026 season then we have serious problems. We will have close to a dozen guys we brought in from HS that will all be juniors and seniors. Whether they redhsirted or not (like all the 24 guys) those big men will have been on campus at UT with nutritionists, strength coaches, and our Oline coaches for 4 freaking years. If they don't make up 4/5ths of our starting Oline as well as the backups, then we need to make a move at Oline Coach in my opinion. Thats 6 seasons of development and recruiting. Sanders and Satterwhite cannot be the only 2 guys that are starting SEC caliber linemen. 6 years is an eternity in FBS. Flarda goes thru 2 or 3 headcoaches and staffs in 6 years.
