'26 NC QB Faizon Brandon (Tennessee commit)

North Carolina is such an underrated state for talent.

Grimsley will finish the season ranked in the top 25 Nationally. Deservedly so. But there’s a team in Fayetteville (Fayettniem nicknamed) NC that maybe just as good as Grimsley. Seventy First HS is 15-0 and about to play West Charlotte for the 3A Title next week. But 71st has THREE 1,000 yard rushers. 1) a 6’2 260 lb HB. 2) a 6’2 220 lb QB 3) a 5’11 210 RB that’s being recruited by Ole Miss for 2026.

I lived in North Carolina for 4 years. And if North Carolina had the coaching, and community support that some of these programs out here in California have, you would have 10 programs all from North Carolina ranked in the Top 50 imo.
So much talent out there. Glad we’re locked into that state. Screw belichick
N.C. is a pretty good state for talent for sure. Just spread out around the state and not all on these Bufords, Miltons, etc so they don't get as much attention it feels like. Only school like that has been Providence Day. Now obviously you have really good programs that pump out great talent like Grimsley, Hough, Myers Park, etc too

While Brandon fell short of the No. 1 ranking in the class, Sam Spiegelman, a national analyst for Rivals.com, believed he was worthy of the ranking.

"Faizon Brandon is surgical orchestrating his offense up and down the field," Spiegelman wrote. "He boasts outstanding arm talent to make throws all over the field and the ability to extend plays or improvise outside the pocket. During a live evaluation this fall, we loved how Brandon stepped up in big moments -- converting pivotal downs and distances and using unique arm angles to slice up defenses. The five-star prospect is consistently accurate and composed and made some big-time throws in different parts of the field when asked to. At a lean 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, Brandon is hard to contain when he breaks the pocket, which is another added element to his game. He's undoubtedly one of the best at the most premium position, and Brandon's current body of work and upside warrants No. 1 consideration."

Tennessee 2026 5-star QB commit Faizon Brandon bumped to Top 3 prospect

Brandon lead my former Alma mater Grimsley High School to the State 4A Championship tonight with 3 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdowns.
Grimsley quarterback Faizon Brandon went full Thanos in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A football championship game, at some point deciding enough was enough and he’d do it himself. Brandon threw for three touchdown passes and rushed for another in the 35-23 win over Rolesville at UNC's Kenan Stadium on Friday.

“At the end of the day, Faizon Brandon is the No. 1 quarterback in the nation,” Rolesville head coach Rainer Rackley said after the game. “Period, point blank and that’s why he’s got that title. I have so much respect for that kid. They (rode) behind their guy and they got it done.”

...With star running back Mitchell Summers banged up in the second half, Brandon’s fourth quarter rushing touchdown proved to be the nail in the coffin. Moments later Brandon threw the dirt on that coffin with a 63-yard touchdown pass to Hudson Cooper...Brandon, the Tennessee commit and North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year, finished with 9-for-13 with 182 yards and one interception. He added 16 yards on the ground.

Grimsley completes perfect season, defeats Rolesville in 4A state title game

He's either elite or he's not, who he's playing in high school does not really matter. Very few kids are ready to walk right into the SEC and play as freshmen.
So no grey area? A kid can be elite in high school, and take time to develop into an elite college player. He’s elite right now, but the competition is like 10x up when he gets to Knoxville but he’s got all the tools to become elite. What you said sounds good but pretty shallow way of thinking.

I can tell you the competition he faced in HS was solid. You had a team from Charlotte Mallard Creek that didn't win their conference go on the road short notice and beat Archbishop Moeller. Same team beat Prince Avenue Christian and hung with Grayson. Hough beat them twice. Wasn't close. Hough narrowly lost to RH Northwestern SC state champion. Grimsley beat Hough in the playoffs. They beat Weddington. They beat Rolesville twice. Roseville probably had more overall talent than anyone in the state.

Be that as it may, the SEC is a big step up. I don't know how that will go. But, he's definitely seen some competition at the HS level. And he has one more year.

Interested how he does next year. He will have to be the guy with Mitchell Summers gone
