'19 NC RB Quavaris Crouch (Tennessee signee)

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. I'm simply sharing some information. I don't like what Crouch said about Clemson any better than you do. Bama is recruiting Crouch too, so I've been keeping tabs some on his recruitment. Idk why Ron Swanson left that stuff Crouch said about Clemson out of his post. It seemed sigificant to me.

You’d rather him go to Tennessee than Clemson?

Neither. I'd rather he go Alabama, but I'm not optimistic at this point that he will. He's only visited once -- last summer. That's not a good sign for Bama. Distance from his home isn't in Bama's favor either.

ETA: Btw, there's a new SEC Country - Alabama article on Crouch (FWIW) that posted minutes ago, if anyone is interested:

5-star athlete Quavaris Crouch talks Alabama, position preference for college — and beyond

It's not that significant as your making it. It's pretty general recruiting talk. He can find that anywhere. I think him singling out our entire staff is pretty telling as is he has visited him more. We are also the ones that were originally upfront about defense with an offensive package. We may not get him but counting us out would be a mistake. TN is a serious contender but he does want to see what the product on the field looks like

I agree. It does appear that UT is a serious contender.

I stated that I think what he said about Clemson is significant; I didn't indicate how significant.

Imo, Clemson has an edge right now. I could be dead wrong. And even if I'm right, that could change.

Five-star athlete Quavaris Crouch of Charlotte, N.C., one of the nation’s top prospects in the 2019 class, showed up at Rocky River High School for Sunday’s event after returning home from a visit to Florida State, although he didn’t work out coming off hip surgery a little more than two months ago. While he was there, he spoke with GoVols247 about his interest in Tennessee, which has hosted him on a pair of visits this year.

It was clear from talking with the 6-foot-2.5, 238-pound Crouch and others that the Vols remain legitimate contenders for the five-star athlete, who seems to be leaning toward playing defense in college but also is capable of playing running back. Clemson still appears to be as well-positioned as anyone, but if there’s a clear favorite in his recruitment at this point, Crouch isn’t tipping his hand. Michigan and Florida State are among the other teams that have caught his attention, but don’t look for him to make a decision any time soon. While Crouch wasn’t sure when he might visit Tennessee again, he said he does expect to return to Knoxville, and he continues to hear plenty from the Vols’ coaches.

They need players. They just need players. That’s what they’re saying all the time,” Crouch said.

“They don’t care what position I play. They just want a football player.”

The 5-star prospect has developed a strong relationship with both head coach Jeremy Pruitt and defensive coordinator Kevin Sherrer, but it was his interactions with offensive coordinator Tyson Helton that stood out during his most recent visit.

While the athlete isn’t sure whether he wants to play linebacker or tailback or both in college, his conversations with Helton didn’t center on football or his positional future at all.

“I really vibbed with the offensive coordinator,” Crouch said.

“It was mostly unrelated to football. I really don’t even remember how we started talking about (faith) but it just happened. It was good. … It was easy to talk to him."

Crouch maintains no leaders at this time, with Tennessee, Clemson, FSU, UGA, South Carolina and Michigan all standing out for various reasons.

“tennessee is up there,” crouch said while attending sunday’s charlotte-area nike elite 11 regional at rocky river high school. “i like tennessee.” “i knew pruitt was coming from alabama, and i know he’s going to change the program around,” said crouch, who’s ranked the no. 17 overall prospect and no. 2 athlete in the industry-generated 247sports composite for the 2019 class. “i wanted to get up there as soon as he got there, so the day he came in, the next (weekend) i was already there.”

he said he was surprised by how much he enjoyed his first visit with the vols. “when i got there and i saw what they were doing,” crouch said, “it made me want to come back again and see what they were going to do with it.” “tennessee has always been pretty good,” crouch said. “they’ve fallen down a little bit, but they need players — big, impact players — to commit to their school so they can bring in more players so they can get ready to rumble again.

“i like pruitt a lot. I like all the staff. I talk to all the staff now. They just got a new running back coach. I think his name’s (chris) weinke or something like that. You can’t forget that name. I’ve got my boy (brian) niedermeyer,” crouch added, referring to the vols’ first-year tight ends coach. “he came from alabama, too. I know most of them because they were already at alabama, and i went down there a couple times.”

“i feel like the system they run, on both sides of the football, it’d fit me if i go there,” he said. “and just pruitt keeping it all the way real with you. He’s not going to lie. He’ll just tell you straight up, even if it hurts your feelings, and that’s how i like coaches to be with me. I don’t want nobody to lie with me or nothing like that. “it’s just a good place. It’s not too far from home. I like the mountains. Driving through the mountains, it makes me feel so calm because i’m always kind of overwhelmed with all of the stuff sometimes. But then, when i went to drive through the mountains, i was, like, calmed down. It looked so pretty going through the mountains and stuff like that.”

niedermeyer is serving as crouch’s primary recruiter for the vols. He said he also has been in contact with weinke and offensive coordinator tyson helton, along with pruitt.“i talk to niedermeyer at least, probably, a couple times a week,” crouch said. “(he is) a real funny, goofy dude. He likes fortnite, so i’ll be telling him i’m playing fortnite. He don’t believe that i don’t catch no wins and stuff like that. Niedermeyer’s a cool dude.”

for now, crouch said he doesn’t know “at all” when he might be ready to make his college decision. “i feel like, whenever i feel it and god just lets me know, ‘that’s where you need to be,’ then i’ll go ahead and take it,” he said.

This kid impresses me every time I read his comments.

Comes across mature beyond his age, especially about what he wants and the whole recruiting process.

Goes without saying, but I really hope he’s a part of this class.
