Oklahoma State faces Missouri today at 3:45 on ESPN so we will see how a Yurcich coached offense fares against an SEC defense.

I really don't like the speed up game unless you have the defense to support it and we don't. I like offenses that can control the ball make ten yards running 12 play or more drives that result in scoring points. Okla St playing 63 to 49 games almost every week. I guess they are fun to watch but really think the best teams have both an offense that can hit quickly if need be but also control the ball for a lot of minutes in a game. The Pruitt style allowed us 29 minutes of possession per game even as terrible as our offense was. This kept us in a lot of games and allowed us to win some like Kentucky and Auburn plus almost SC.

Who cares about ToP? It's a silly stat. Yes, it's nice to be able to run effectively in late-game situations, but it doesn't mean much the other 3 quarters. Obviously ToP didn't help us this year. You can run and kill clock all you want, but it won't matter if you go 3 & out. Scoring is what matters. Like WVU, I remember we had +5 minutes ToP on them, but 1/3 the points since they scored so fast on us. Think they cared? All our running did no good having to punt all game. And if you have the better team (should be the plan here real soon v most opponents), then you want more possessions, not fewer. The fewer the possessions, the more luck there is.

As for UK and Aub, we hardly had but 1 reasonably long Q4 drive in both games. We closed out because our defense shut them out, as they had for most of each game:

UK:
ToP going into Q4:
21:35 UT
23:25 UK - with 7 points...

Q4 drives:
3 plays & fumble
3 & fumble
5 & a punt

Aub:

ToP going into Q4:
25m UT
20m Aub

Q4 drives:
3 & out
4 plays & a FG
8 plays & out

And then we call all base our opinion on 1 game, right? Oi. Bowl games are absolute clusterf*&^% these days. I could see this being a 50-49 game or 65-21 either way. These things have become so unpredictable lately.

I'd be thrilled with Yurcich. Watching today, Cornelius isn't great, but he's good. With Rudolph last year, they were a top five offense. Consistently top 20. You never know if the offense is primarily the OC or Gundy, but I suspect Yurcich is calling the plays and that his offensive scheme won't change much. What I like is that they really use their playmakers.
