NC State vs Western Carolina Thursday at 7PM

Overall, this was very good. NC State doesn’t look like a very good team, but they still won and will be ranked next week when we beat them.
Not sure they stay ranked with that performance. Georgia Tech probably already jumped them and FSU probably didn’t fall behind them. Only one other team has to jump them

Your wish came true.
While I think we should handle NC State, as they don't have anywhere near the talent we have (per the 247 Team Talent Composite for 2024, the only SEC school NC State has more talent than is Vandy), the eyeball test is notoriously unreliable, CFB history is littered with situations where a team looks like crap one week and like world beater's the next. Alas, the perils of prognosticating the mindset of 18-22 males from week to week, especially now that they are getting paid large sums of money in addition to being the kings on campus.

I expect this game with NC SU to be tougher than what they showed last night. You can't tell how a team will perform based on these early games.

We luckily squeaked out a 1 pt win vs Air Force in 2006. Later we beat UGA 51-33

And Tennessee always seems to get every teams best performance somehow. It will be interesting to see how State comes out next week but talent wise, we’re still better

There will be some Top 25 losses that will knock other teams out, or at least behind NC State. USC faces LSU. A&M faces Notre Dame. Clemson faces UGA. So that's 3 current top 25 teams who will have 1 loss after this week. UGA won't fall far if they lose though. Clemson might not fall far either if they keep it relatively close.

Yep, it’s the first game against a lesser opponent. Hard to get up for that game. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Vols don’t look great Saturday.

NC State took care of business in the end. Their receiving core is legit and had a lot of YAC. Of course you would expect some that considering the opponent. But Concepcion showed why he is one of the favorites for the Biletnikoff. Their RB group was solid as well, though I think half of Water's yardage came on that last drive. However, their OL got pushed around a lot, allowing 1 sack and 9 TFLs. McCall also struggled with accuracy before the 4th quarter. Was not very impressed with McCall at all really.

Defensively, they gave up 6 yards a carry and 10 yards per completion to a much weaker WCU team. Their line did have 2 sacks and 4 TFLs. But overall you would likely be very disappointed with the defensive effort as a NCST fan. WCU didn't do anything special on offense and yet NCST consistently had trouble stopping them.

Either WCU is a lot better than I thought, which I don't really know anything about them, or NC State is much weaker than everyone has been predicting.

They looked bad for most of the game. The only reason they won is because WCU ran out of gas. They could have beaten NC State last night

At this time, I predict UT completely dominated NC State on both sides of the ball. The Vols could potentially blow out the Wolfpack.
