1. As a Catholic. I would like to thank everyone for not doing any "Catholic Bashing" in this thread. It is greatly appreciated. God Bless you all.
2. The National Catholic Reporter, is an indepentdent news source that is not endorsed by Notre Dame or the Church. It is a very "Progressive" or "Liberial" news publication. Not saying that this is a false report or a "trumped" up article. But, most Catholics that are familiar with it would not use it for paper training their puppy or starting a fire. I just dont know how much stock to put into it. Seeing as no charges were filed against any player, that makes me even more skeptical..It seems like one of the situations where we will never know the 100% truth.
3. In this order, and always in the order, and will always be in this order for me..GO VOLS!!!! Go Irish!
I had to bite my lip. (I'm not catholic) The last thing catholicism needs is another scandal involving a coverup connected to sexual harrasment (in all its forms).
My view, in this league, sucess breeds sucess. Bama has a lot of luck on their side like KSU losing to Baylor this season, and Iowa State beating TCU last year. Yes, they have put themselves in a position to "be available" for the big game, but if the outcome of either of those two games was different, they never would have gotten a shot at LSU last year and wouldn't be in the title game this year.
So having said that, I firmly believe that it's hard to stay on top and a few defeats along the way put Bama right back in the middle of the pack. I have lived in Bama most of my life and I can tell you, all you see around here are those stinkin' Crimson A's. Go to any walmart or trailer park. OK, well I admit UT ruled those areas back in '98.. ha.
Bama needs quite a few losses to go into decline. They all matter. I can't pull for them. Sorry. And I hate ND too.
I would welcome a debate on that subject but not on this board and not if it would become heated. AMEN on the GO VOLS! (God forgive me).
How vey smug of us while sitting with less money than Vandy and Kentucky in the bank to say ..Go Irish we don't want any of that National Championship money because we are the VOLs
How Stupid can you be? WE NEED Money folks...you want our team to be better? We want EVERY game on the SEC on television and playing in every BOWL and Every NC
We need money...How many people on here don't get that? You hear that the AD is getting back 18M??? THAT takes time ...It's not in the bank . we have coaches to pay and former coach's to pay and maybe looking down the barrell of NCAA sanctions
When the conference is up ..the money is split
DON't Be short sighted People

I hate Bama. But it's like with a cousin I hate. I get to hate him, but anybody not family better keep their mouths shut. I can't help but want Bama to win. I honestly can't help it.
... then read this.
The Washington Post article has an internal link to an earlier story in the National Catholic Reporter. Both are by an ND grad.
Why I wont be cheering for old Notre Dame
Bama's record is not really important when we play them. Beating Bama always feels like the greatest of climaxes.
