NCAA FB Line discussion..(gambler thread)

I debated it for a good 10 minutes. ND is at home, putting up 550yds a game, and due to win one after giving 2 games away. Just going with what I think are the odds, but thats why it was only in a 10.00 parlay. :)

good pick...glad i didnt bet it, i was looking at MSU all the way

I made my first bet this weekend with the ut/Fla game, so glad I got in when it was -10 Fla since I lost nothing. Almost took msu over nd, glad I didn't!

In an NFL note, I have the ravens at -7 for Tennessee. Seemed like a no brained.

I'm a Titans fan and season ticket holder, but I took the Ravens at -5, but the Titans are looking stout today. Gave my tickets to a friend cause I had to go out of town. Parlayed it with Cowboys -3 at SF.

Lines released for Week 4...early thoughts:

UCF (+4) vs. BYU. This has potential to be one of the most interesting games of the weekend with Heaps vs. UCF's solid defense and Godfrey vs. a BYU defense that's been pretty decent as well (the seven offensive turnovers are what led to most of Utah's 54 points, not the D).

Ohio State (-16.5) vs. Colorado. I don't care how bad OSU's offense is, Colorado is a smoking crater.

Michigan (-8) vs. San Diego State. Come on, man.

Tulsa (+29.5) vs. Boise if Kinne is available. They'll probably keep it within four scores.

Georgia (-10.5) at Ole Miss. Yeah, Georgia is still an unknown quantity, but...Ole Miss.

Texas Tech -7 at Kansas
Nevada +27.5 at Boise St
Baylor -3.5 at Kansas St
Texas -10 at Iowa St.
Stanford -21 vs UCLA

All seem like good early lines to me.

Early thoughts:

Houston -16.5 at UTEP. I haven't seen anything that indicates UTEP will hold Houston below 45.
Air Force +3 at Navy. I'm not sure what it is/was, but even before the season I really liked Air Force in this game so I'll stick with it.
Arkansas +3 vs. A&M. Same as AF/Navy.
LSU -29.5 vs. Kentucky. Heck, I'd take LSU -42 in this.
Alabama -3.5 at Florida. I just don't understand why everyone is in (re)love with Florida.

I cashed in a 620.00 payout with a parlay on Michigan, LSU and Pitt. However, I got completely raped yesterday on the NFL lines.

What does the whole parlay thing mean?

Windy,

Basically you are picking 2, 3, 4 or more games and they ALL have to be correct. If you parlay 5 different games and get 4 right and miss 1, you lose the bet. However, the payout is much higher because the odds of your picking that many games is very low. a 20.00 bet on a 3 team parlay can pay out around 75-100 dollars depending on the odds.

Hope that helps.

Here's a sample of the parlay I play. A pretty common card is betting $5 on 5 teams which pays $100. Of course all have to be winners & a tie is a loss both ways. The only bet that pays out something without winning all your games is if you bet on 10 & get 9 right.

I bet online at Bodog, and if I have a 4 team parlay and one team pushes, then that game is erased and the odds payout as if it were a 3 team parlay.

I thought it was a lock pick... I picked them to cover in 1 and straight win in the other.

3-2. Meh.

I did my first parlay, had bama, arky, Stanford and lsu. Lsu lost it for me at the end :( maybe another time!

Parlays constantly play with my emotions. It's always a great feeling when you win, not so much when you get WTF'd by that one team.

I know, I was so excited in the 4th, I got this! Then I noticed the score again with a few minutes left. !#$$@$&! But it was fun to try something new!

Early thoughts just from a quick lookover:

UT +1.5 vs. Georgia. Well, heck, why not? Bray's certainly been more impressive than Murray this season and he'll be able to outthrow him with all likelihood, which should lead to an interesting 60-minute shootout.
Southern Miss +2.5 at Navy. I don't really get this one. Yeah, USM lost to Marshall, but they've beaten an ACC school on the road already (granted, it was UVA) and Navy was completely outplayed for 51 minutes (and OT) by Air Force in Annapolis. Plus, Austin Davis is still a great QB.
South Carolina -21 vs. Kentucky. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice...
Ohio State +11 at Nebraska. No, it's not because of anything OSU's offense can('t) do. It's mostly because if you haven't noticed, Taylor Martinez is still really terrible at everything not named running and Nebraska's defense looks nothing like the Blackshirts of '09 and '10. Don't expect OSU to win, but I could see a 5-7 point loss. Also, take the under. TAKE IT.
LSU -13.5 vs. Florida. Florida's defense can contain the LSU offense better than most can. However, a true freshman QB on the road in his first start at Tiger Stadium? Yeah...good luck with that.
